2014 Engine yin yang

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

let's not forget the Huaryra is powered by a turbo merc engine.
OK, fair enough !
I was just thinking about Mercedes themselves not AMG. Obviously since AMG is significantly involved in the F1 development I accept defeat on that Topic.

There's a similar change happening in British Hillclimbing with small turbo engines making ground on the big V8s, not by regulation but by development (300kg cars with 400bhp taking on 450kg cars with 700bhp). There's a great thread where the runners of those engines are contributing and we're starting to see some cost/performance analysis with some real figures.

Seriously, with the resources of the three makes involved and considering the tight rules, I'm afraid they will be extremely equal.

With the xception of the input from the fuel companies of course, but that battle will be in the lab and most uninteresting for other than the true geeks, which just like the tyre-war will lead to a single-supplier for 2015.

It might depend on who is in charge of the FIA and who is leading the petro-war though.

Think about it.
Ferrari also have Shell's research and development.

Those jungle drums are beating even louder. However I also think Massa just took any drive that was available.

"Rumours in the paddock suggest the Mercedes engine could be one of the strongest next year under the new V6 turbo regulations and Massa said it had helped ease his decision to join the team."

Indeed, one of the three strongest as a matter of fact.

Surely second most powerful is within reach? That's only median.

The whole Mercedes thing might currently be a fashionable rumour that Massa has bought into but I think Williams might come to regret making that move. Mind you, Massa has to say that doesn't he?

Regret paying for one of the three most powerful engines or regret hiring Massa?

Will Massa bring Petrobras- or MrE-money btw?

Power isn't going to be everything, I feel........

As for Massa, well, they had Maldonado. Nuff said.
