If you think Schumachers situation is in anyway similar to what senna was going through in 1993, then you are plain wrong. senna was 32, schumacher 43. One had alread retired ... And come back unsuccessfully... The other was angling for a good drive...
Senna used the situation to his advantage, he wouldn't have retired anyway... He was talking of a sabbatical from the sport-read his autobiography.
And 1993 is not 2012. The sport has changed way way too much to make these comparisons.
Senna was angling for a good drive. He was angling for a Williams seat and was in negotiations with Williams at the time but Frank would not go back on the deal he made with Prost. Prost's structured his deal with Williams in a way that P*ssed Senna off. Would Senna have retired / taken a sabatical? According to many autobiographies, YES he would have ( I have most of them + 2 DvD's including "SENNA, the movie". Even Joe Ramirez supports the opinion the Senna was tired of it and wanted a break but the lore of winning was always too great.
You either see a situational parallel or you don't.
Lastly, please learn to read words. I said Schumacher is retiring. I don't believe he will be in any car next year except the family stationwagon taking the dogs for a walk.
As for the speculative discussion people are having wrt what POSSIBILITIES lie ahead, it is not inconceivable that he could still make a U-turn or not. Either way people will make up their own minds in time, NOT because you said so.
You disagree, that's fine.
