It was only for Lando's first run. They took the wing off after that so timing not relevant

We will know soon enough. I'll be interested if its standalone or coming with further changes.

As it says in the article, it's likely Red Bull or Max anyway, will be challenging. New directive or not.

The interesting one will be Ferrari. They've been off it all season, if they are close, it's surely down to the directive.

Apparently it's just slot gap bracing on the new McLaren FW. It looks like a close battle with RB for pole at this track, everything being equal. Another track where it's important to grab the initiative and get the front row.

Massive run to turn 1 isn't it at Barca?

Being pole isn't such an advantage.

It is when you can force people off.

I am surprised by quite defensive comments by Stella, he is really downplaying McLaren chances.

High and medium speed corners will make it no walk in the park and that start/finish straight will be a fight on lap 1. I think it may need some clever strategy to overcome Max, in other words I'm not optimistic - it's still a very defensive bunch of strategists on the McLaren pitwall.

It's usually defined by long run performance here, I feel.

Concentrate on that being the most important attribute, while very careful planning for Q runs so important. The blend of tyre use at Q speed from taking too much at beginning OR end of lap is a finely judged thing.

This car looks to have good potential here, tentatively speaking. Think it's going to take some very concentrated in team balance to bring it out though.

MCL38 was very fast around here in quali and race, given that MCL39 is better in every aspect I'd be very surprised if McLaren isn't super strong here. The high deg nature of the track paired with easy overtaking plays straight into the hands of McLaren.

I think whatever happens we need both mclaren drivers must be ahead of everyone bar max as a minimum.

Redbull and max will be fast, perhaps faster than us in qualy but what we can't do is let a Russell or leclerc etc to be in front of us. Otherwise by time we get past them in the race (waiting for superior deg to come into play) Max will already long gone into the distance.

Max p1 in qualy is not the worst thing to happen her but we must be p2 and p3 after that first corner.

Merc could be very fast here in quali

Do we have superior deg? If it's just natural deg. Max was better in Imola, and even Leclec was better in Bahrain (?) When he stretched the mediums out.

Well...inconsistent Q is the only and biggest problem in this season.

I also do not see how they not will humiliate the rest of the pack. This is a thermal deg track, much more than Miami. Should be a walk in the park if the drivers get their Q together...and this is one of the most easy tracks in Q as well.
