Thinking Lauda because he began the 76 season with five wins, two seconds and a third (yes, wiki), leading by a mile.
But lost it in the last race in Japan, which Button almost managed to do.

Lauda used both a 312T and a 312T2, however.

Alan Jones in 1980 perhaps?

Nope, it's neither Lauda nor Jones. Nor Ferrari nor Williams for that matter.

Too difficult for you? :)

The question was: "Which is the individual chassis (not model) with the highest number of Formula 1 Grand Prix wins? How many, and which driver scored all of these wins?"

The lead was: "History all but repeated itself in 2009."

So, let's look at the similarities between the chassis I'm looking for and the 2009 Brawn BGP001-02:

For 5 points: The chassis was raced all season by the same driver.*

4 points: The driver became world champion that year.

3 points: The team was British.

2 points: The driver was British as well.

1 point: The driver's first name starts with the letter "J".

* The chassis I'm looking for was actually raced for two full seasons, always piloted by the same driver. This driver won the vast majority of the chassis race wins in the first of those two seasons.

James Hunt (McLaren M23) is actually wrong, good guess though. :)

Not so many Js. Jim Clarke perhaps. 1963 Lotus 25. Chassis R4

Image

Chassis R4 served as Jim Clark's primary car for most of the 1963 season. He used it to score 7 Grand Prix victories on his way to the 1963 Driver's World Championship. This makes it one of the most successful Formula 1 chassis ever built.

There have been plenty of British "J's" in F1, because it's not Jim Clark either!

The chassis I am looking for has eight wins...

So lets try Sir Jackie Steward's Tyrell 003 then. He won 6 races and a WDC in 1971 and two races in 1972 with it. Model number was also the chassis number.

As Roland is not back to confirm the Tyrell 003 I will assume that he has no objections to my solution of the riddle.

The new task is about two Formula1 tracks which could not be more different in layout, landscape and character. Despite the differences a number of commonalities can be found to identify the tracks. Both tracks were inaugurated in the same decade within a time span of six years. F1 has deserted both tracks due to safety concerns. Both tracks share one common feature to their most iconic corner. Name the tracks and the drivers who hold fastest lap records on those two tracks.

Is one of the tracks you are looking for Nürburgring Norschleife?

 I would be spoiling the fun by answering the question, wouldn't I?

How about the Nordscleife and Monza, both opened in 1922 and both have banking on th corners I think of.

Bob Veith has the Monza oval record, and Stefan Bellof managed 6:11.13 on the Green Hell
Murray: "And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool."
James: "Well, that should put them out then."

You are close but F1 in Monza started as a flat track went to a banked corner oval in the mid 50ties just for four F1 races and then went flat again 1961s. The high speed F1 track I'm thinking of was faster than the original Monza and never changed configuration as long as F1 raced there. Monza reverted back to flat and a shorter config instead of getting deserted by F1. Of course - having been started in the 1920ties our high speed track was heavily used in the golden era. It never was a regular F1 track but it had two F1 races.

Your Nordschleife record is also not a match. Bellof was fastest on the interim shortened configuration while the track was being modified. We are looking for the absolutely fastest lap on the original layout that got deserted. Another hint: The record holder lost a body part to the track in an accident. Other than that a very good effort. =D>

@ cooper-climax. Karoussel had no banking at the beginning. There was a mere ditch on the inside that Caracciola used to hang on to with the inside wheel (hence the the corner name). Only later the corner was re paved with banking.
