In fact I'd say he's pretty damn lucky after todays race. If it had been Kimi's McLaren from a few years back that gearbox would have fallen off the car. He's had a bad few races, but he hasn't been that unlucky.
Where did i say he is the only one having bad luck and suffering?

He's had a bad few races, but he's lucky like a leprecauhn, sure.
He's as unlucky this last half as Truli.

hungary, monza, singapore, suzuka. a string of bad races mostly out of the driver's control. Who else is as unlucky (remember i didn't say no one is free of it, but who else in the top 5 had this much poor luck?)
Then you go and say the guy is lucky actually, and expect anyone to scratch their head and say, "hey, you know you're right!"

Anyway, every great champion needs a race where he finishes with a messed up gearbox. Shumacher, Senna, all had a race like this. Just another prerequisite to saga of legends.

Aside from Hamilton. I said this before, but Alonso cannot be touched by Button or redbull drivers. HE showed again that he is in another class.

I didn't mean you specifically, my mistake.

interestingly Mercedes now not loosing ground towards the teams in front even thogh they have stopped officially all development....
One could even say ...they are as far back as they were at the beginning of the european season in race conditions but somewhat closer in Qualy ...possibly because they understand the car better now.
the second team that already stated to have stopped all development seem to go better than ever:Lotus.
Maybe some teams tend to compromise their speed too much with adding new component struggling to find the best setup as a tradeoff to gained potential.

I have often thought teams are to quick to throw new parts at a car that they haven't fully exploited yet. Some times it is necessary (double diffuser, f duct, etc), but most of the time it probably isn't.

Which nobody denies.

* Webber is slower than Vettel but webber is more achieved in race situation ( leading , overtaking , result keeping , more patient ).
* Jenson is slower than Hamilton but jenson talent is more net with no waste in driving (gentle with tires , easy on the car , strategic sensitive , no overdriving ) .
* Alonso was on his place during the race without engine overusing for the same result possible .
* Rosberg regular as always with the same annoying pace during all the race phases , which ( maybe ) have blocked Schumacher from getting Hamilton .
* Heidfeld same problem as Rosberg .
* Kobayashi over showed by the race producer , profiting of the tire freshness to overtake cars clearly far from his pace , three overtakes on the same corner ( the ones who demand the best rear tires grip ) .
* Barrichello like pure wine , better with years is using almost all his car potential.
* Kubica out due to car problems which hide the Renault real pace for us .
* Petrov,Massa trying to catch their team mates and fails confusing precipitation and speed .

; i'm waiting for the next year to see all the drivers with their full potential due to the over-steery cars configuration ,i'm happy for webber , Schumacher the over-steer addicts , and for Jenson who can impose his preferences from the beginning .

Does anyone know what engine Alonso used in Suzuka? Was it the Monza or Spa engine?

Jenson, Lewis and Sebastian all used new engines in Japan, number 8 and last.
Sebastian also moved to a new gearbox, number 5 and last.

New engine and gearbox, wouldn't that be worth half a 10th WB? (Fact!)

Yeah it is. For a lap or more the vertical fence was hinged by it's own carbon, and went horizontal at speed. It eventually broke off.

uhm... what the hell, have FIA no control over the starting procedure anymore? First Massa is 1m off and now Vettel fake-starts all without them even noticing..

What makes you think he moved before the start? From that video you cannot even see the lights when they take off.
