any impressions from track?
Red Bull looks solid, Jenson was locking up all over the place but still managed to look classy, Caterham, Toro Rosso, Force India and Sauber were putting some serious track time and the HRT looked naked and slow. Ferrari seem to be in some kind of trouble, lots of aero and constant speed tests. Kimi looked as cool as ever. Oh, and the Caterham is by far the loudest car on the grid so far.

Gracias por las fotos Insomniac!

Those pics are actually better than most from dedicated F1/motorsport sites.

Thanks for sharing.

Do the cars sound cleaner now without ebd?

Video posted yesterday made it seem like Lotus still has that ebd sound.

40 minutes until the Session begins.

Anyone want to hedge some theories.

I will start first with new Mclaren Exhaust housing, New Ferrari Front wing, Sauber new Rear Wing, Red Bull working on more rubbery components (sarcasm), STR Data collection.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I'm not sure how to interpret the green streak right behind the front wing; is it on the surface of the front wing or is it the flow-vis in action through the air (thus a representation of the airflow as it heads into the suspension)?.

I place my bet as no radically different components will be tested today. McLaren will still be focussing on heavier fuel loads and getting Lewis settled, moving on to doing some set up work tomorrow.

Next test we'll see broadly similar cars to this test, although if any teams have any radical ideas that they're going to need to work on fine tuning then we'll see those presented. It will be the test after that where we'll start to see some of the final aero updates.

But don't expect any real radical departures or changes from any of the teams. It'll all be refinements and tweaks to what they're already running. Maybe someone will do something radical on a front wing or something, but the majority of the cars will race in a configuration not a million miles away from what you see running at this test.

I see some green-ish color on the inner wall of the right tyre too. So it's either flow-vis in action, or some reflectionn/image artifact IMHO. I never saw flow-vis spreaded in air before ( assuming they didn't put flow-vis on the tyre ).

The whole of the inside of the front wing was coated in flow-vis when I took this photo, so it may well be some of it flying off.

There is a photo in the STR7 section for Formula 1 cars and your right, its flow vis that was embeded on the front wing, it spat on the tyre, into the sidepods.

I think mx's question is; is that green line there basically a front wing plane covered in flow-vis; seen from the side; or is it actually on the wing support and showing the flow of the air OFF the wing?

I think that flow paint is on the inside of the right end plate.
