An issue for me is the FIA's statement on why he was given a penalty. The fia give migating factors on why it wasn't his fault then in the next sentence say it was all his fault. Toto, Russell, Fred and Lewis have all said they think it was just a racing incident and based on the fia's own statement that's what it should have been

The pace of this car has been impressive considering we have had 3 power tracks in a row which is the cars biggest weakness. Charles just needs to keep doing what he is doing and Lewis just needs a squeaky clean weekend, no crashes in FP3, no jump starts, no getting caught up in turn one incidents, no yellow flag infringements and they will both be up there come the chequered flag. Looking forward to tracks like Hungary and Netherlands which are next and then ADIO 2 for Monza

Conflicted by this, lucky not to get a penalty but getting the 5 second penalty (somewhat unluckily) actually lead to this incident and cost Hamilton additional time and an entire stint with the wrong wing level which I think adds up to 3rd place.

Awesome. Hit and damage another drivers car but because they aren’t all the way along side you not get a penalty. Mow a mechanic over and because it’s your own you don’t get a penalty. Over take under yellow flags and not get a penalty.

I thought the official statement from the stewards in Silverstone was that Lewis didn’t have time to react ie slow down to then not overtake the car?

Yea, sorry I thought his infringement in Silverstone was overtaking a car- it was just failing to slow under a yellow flag.
Even so, it’s still a poor ‘excuse’ of a decision by the stewards
