Commentators were talking about the wind having changed. But don't know if that's the reason
The track between turn 8 and 9 looks pretty straight, running east to west. That means going into 8 you're south bound and going into 9 you're turning north bound. At tgevof qualifying the wind was out of the SW 4kph.
It’s a quote from Russell but I think it applies to us all qualifying. The car was not the same as yesterday probably due to wind and then once the sliding started the tyres cooked and that was that."If you just hook it up, it's a track where you could find sort of four-tenths from not really doing much different. It's just one small slide, the tyres overheat and then you sort of lose a couple of tenths in the subsequent corners, whereas other laps you can just be like 1% below the limit, you have no slides and you just have more and more grip and a really strong lap time comes.
I believe the broadcast said Alonso had an extra set of hard tyres, but I do not know how that will prove advantageous.
Just looked at the forecast. High chance of rain tomorrow but in the morning. At race time, it's a 20% chance of rain.FNTC wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025, 21:11Both Ferraris were slightly slower in Q3 too, but Max and the McLarens improved. Piastry by 3 tenths. Max and Hadjar by 2 tenths. But I guess the cars react different to wind too. https://www.formula1.com/en/results/202 ... qualifying
Hoping for some rain during the race.
This could be a blessing if it dries before the start. That means Alonso will not be starting on a dirty side of the track.diffuser wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025, 00:27Just looked at the forecast. Very top teams will often leave a little bit of room for improvement for Q3. Plus Max is just demonically talented.FNTC wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025, 21:11Both Ferraris were slightly slower in Q3 too, but Max and the McLarens improved. Piastry by 3 tenths. Max and Hadjar by 2 tenths. They had 1 new set of new softs in q3.zoroastar wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025, 03:54i think the rain hurt us. the car was much less hooked up after the showers. not sure about the wind, but it looked like a different car from yesterday. unless they made some changes they shouldnt have. i dont understand how they end up going into quali short on softs. they didnt run anything but softs during practice did they? mclaren can do that, we cant
They had 1 new set of new softs in q3. They did waste a set of softs on a canceled run, cause he made it through.zoroastar wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025, 03:54i think the rain hurt us. the car was much less hooked up after the showers. not sure about the wind, but it looked like a different car from yesterday. unless they made some changes they shouldnt have. i dont understand how they end up going into quali short on softs. they didnt run anything but softs during practice did they? mclaren can do that, we cant
