I think Ferrari a more likely partner for Vettel than McLaren. Hamilton is just a smite older than him, and I don't see him going anywhere else.
But if MercedesGP gets into the swing of things, Vettel would be their ideal candidate, no doubt.

As terrible as it is for some motor sports fans, Red Bull Racing has committed to F1 for years to come. They've pretty much groomed Vettel from the start of his career, sponsoring his Formula Three Euroseries car, and aside from a one-year stint for Sauber, setting him up with Toro Rosso and Red Bull ever since. RBR will give Mark Webber his chance this year, but I think Vettel will win and commit to Red Bull for as long as they stay competitive in F1. I think that'll be for at least the next five years.

True, as long as Adrian is there, they'll never opt for ferrari engine!

whats the status on BMW engines? heard something about Mclaren taking over Beemers motor plant.
The value of that property is declining by the day. I think we may be only weeks away from announcing a radically different engine formula with highly efficient V4 turbo engines and integrated unrestricted KERS.

McLaren would do well to remain with Merc engines in 2013 to evaluate where things are going in terms of competitiveness in the new formula.

As engine technology is going to play a bigger role I see Ferrari increasing their competitive advantage over McLaren and even Mercedes. Their core business requires exactly the same kind of research as the F1 engines will need from 2013. So they should in theory have the highest synergy from the R&D millions that they spend for road cars.

So Red Bull going into decline and Vettel going to Ferrari looks like one of the possible future scenarios.

Horner admits Red Bull building team around Vettel

If RB are trying to repeat what Ferrari did with Schumacher, they may want to take note that Ferrari built a team with a driver who was an experienced double world champion at that stage.

Vettel has speed no doubt, however until he gains race craft, experience, and at least one big shunt to his name, IMO I think its unwise for RB to take this approach or for Ferrari to even consider him.

Be that as it may, a few years back Renault (under Briatore's guidance) built a team around a talented newcomer...

That's an interesting sentiment. What do you mean by a McLaren/Ferrari type driver?

Is very simple really.. At Mclaren the Engineers call the shots, at Ferrari the drivers are more influential in the decisions and get more involved.. Drivers like Montoya/Alonso did not get along with that style of mgmt..
Kubica is well known for being very critical of the development of the car and when things don't go his way he will let the team know.

I hope Vettel will not drive for Ferrari, at least not while Ferrari is under the presidency of Montezemolo.

there a lot of rubbish being spoken about Vettel being immature blah blah blah.

But i guess everyone needs an opinion to sound like an authority yet none has had a pint with the young lad.

Will Vettel race for Ferrari? Not next year thats for sure but rest assured his patience with renault and red Bull isn't going to last much longer.

This is the 2nd year running that he looses the championship due to a lack of reliability. He has also borne the brunt of technical problems at redBull this year, yet somehow the englis speaking community needs to claim that he is favoured over Webber.

I for one would be surprised to see a Renault engine in the back of a Red Bull next year. But what else would replace it. A Mercedes? well they already supply two teams other than Mercedes.
Lotus is about to announce a renault deal and renault wants to buy back its team. Where does this leave red bull?

Vettel is effectively out of this years championship. I think he is casting his eyes toward Silver

Sebastian Vettel racing at Mercedes I think would bring the rise of a new "Silver Baron," and coupled with Ross Brawn that is a partnership I would not like to race against (given that their aero and tyre guys can actually do good) Add in Rob Smedley to the mix and it's perfect

Right now I'm thinking silver (I'm not sure WHICH you mean, MacMerc or Merc) will be a more likely future for young Sebastian. The German one not the Swiss one.

I think Vettel will headto Mercedes in 2013. He is tied to Red Bull till 2012 which I'm sure is a decision he is regretting.
redbull seem capable of building a fast car but incapable of achieving consistent reliability.

Ferrari we know can achieve fantastic reliability.
McLaren we know can achieve it.
Mercedes have the people there who know how to get there.
Renault, have the people, they just don't seem to work on Red Bull engines after the summer break (read into that what you will)

the only logival place for Vettelto move to is Mercedes in a few years or Renault next year.

to win the championship you need a reliable car, not one whose spark plugs break, brakes bind or don't work, has fuel pump issues )on numerous occasions, has exhaust pipe failure, and engine failure.
Once again Newey's car is fragile but fast.

If Red Bull can't win this years championship, I doubt they will ever have the means to win it. They just seem to have fragility in their minds and that translates to work on the cars. Perhaps Horner should be moved aside and stronger leadership brought in
I think someone like Flavio (spits) Briatore would achieve better results.

Red Bull has mastered the art of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Renault has a clear number 1 in Kubica. I bet my house that Vettel won't go to Renault whilst Kubica is there.

Vettel is not only a victim of reliability this year. RB has had the great advantage of being unchallenged for the front row most of the races this season..
Out of 9 poles for Vettel this year, he’s only been able to win 2 of those races and only lost 2 wins due to reliability.
The other 5 races he’s ran into problems, or gotten beaten by either Webber or Ferrari not to mention the races in Turkey and Spa where he crashed into his opponents costing him lots of points. Mechanical DNF’s are part of F1, and if anyone embraces a season thinking that their favorite driver is not destined to suffer any DNFs, is dreaming.. The reason that they look so crucial for Vettel is because he’s had them from the lead but that is circumstantial since he has the fastest car therefore is supposed to be running at the front and not in the mid-pack or back.

A better driver would have had this thing wrapped up already even with DNF’s he’s had.

I had said earlier this thread the Vettel's exact words when asked this question during the 'cue card fan interview' for F1 Racing Magazine was "Why not?".
