I can't stand Legard and I can't stand Brundle.

But...

I like the Radio 5 commentary with David Croft and Anthony Davidson and/or Karun Chandhok.

I like Charlie Cox.

What do I do? The choice is simple at the moment but it will be ruddy impossible soon if this is true!
Simple: watch bbc online with radio 5 comments! :)

they do it because they have to talk for 2 hours, and they want to comment beyond the obvious stuff. Sometimes they overdo it and become motorsports psychologists. Maybe they think this is a better way to attract non-fans.

My question is: Why the bloody hell don't they spend more time at the pits and give a better insight into race strategies, tech gossip and stuff like that? This lack of knowledge is quite obvious in some commentators...

Rather than bitching about the relative merits of certain commentators… it’s easy to criticise from a distance… Why don’t you do something about it?

Set up an internet radio station providing a more technical commentary. I'd imagine it would be pretty crude to begin with the limited info on hand via F1.com, live feed from the TV… etc, but with a little research building up to the race it could work in the right hands.

But you might also see that its a difficult marriage, entertainment and hard data.

I would rather be forced into a three way with Eddie Jordan and Flavio Briatore than listen to a single minute of Al Murray ...

Can we have Frankie Boyle instead?

For those who don't know him...

Going back to James Allen, maybe he got over-enthusiastic about many things, and got so many others wrong. But he (almost) made F1 exciting in some of its most boring years to date. And I believe he's a real fan of F1.

Yes, Radio 5 commentary with David Croft and Anthony Davidson and/or Karun Chandhok is very good. Karun is a revelation.

Frankie Boyle would be too funny but I fear the killjoy PC brigade would never allow it.

Couldn't agree more . Chandhok's insight about current F1 levels of grip and performance dynamics is often better than Coulthard's! His commentary during FP1/FP2 last week at Monza, provided better overview than any of the current pundits. Truly outstanding. Easy to see where he will end up if he doesn't rejoin the grid pretty soon.
