I find it interesting mostly because the information is coming from a 'tech' site rather than a racing one.
Does anyone else find it ironic that one of the largest targets of FOM's copyright enforcement activities seems placed to be a team naming sponsor?
On top of that, I can't see a logical brand association for YouTube. F1 and YouTube? However, I don't have the money Chad Hurley's got.

Doh... I forgot that Google owns YouTube now. So there's not necessarily any association between YouTube and Hurley.

Looks like the Brawn to me with just the photoshopped livery and driver helmet.
That's what I figured, but in the back of my mind, thought that they'd copied the design of a winning car.

now that you've mentioned it, it looks like they just 'filled' the red bits of his helmet with another tone of blue.

YouTube totally needs to advertise, I mean so many people have not heard of it.

Not like it's a standard bookmark in all the major web browsers. What a waste of money. Might as well throw it a charity, it will at least do something then.....or just pay the team to have your name on the side, with your portrait beside and two thums ip, smiling like a rich idiot.

Is it difficult to function on a daily basis with such a slender grasp of reading comprehension? The article, like every article, says Chad Hurley is involved in an investment capacity. Nobody other than forum monkeys has ever suggested You Tube is sponsoring the team.

I think YouTube or Google sponsorhip for USF1 makes just as much sense as the story about a US-based retail chain, K-mart?

@SPACEPIG

Why do you think, as a brand spanking new user, it's OK to make personal attacks?

Cuz it's not OK for any user, spanking or not.

Just wondering, because someone as obviously smart as you, with a mastery of the English language, should understand that there are ways to correct misinformation, and being a dick might not be one of them.

Somehow I find this piece amusing, really don't know why though.

After watching Jeff Gordon drive Montoya's Williams a few years ago, I think that there could be some serious talent fome from the NASCAR paddock.

The trick would be to get DuPont, Pepsi or some other NASCAR sponsor to get one of their NASCAR driver into the USGP car for 2 years.

I know it sounds crazy, but I tend to believe that a great driver will excel in any racing series he joins, as long as his car is good as well.

And THAT may be what kills USGP. Working some kind of magic just to watch it all wash down the tubes due to a crappy car design...

Another thing that could kill USGP Conceptual, is this never ending talking but no walking.

So far we have no idea who's supporting this project financially, while now they tell us that two drivers have offered to pay 75% of the budget (of what, 50 MUSD?) and they turned them down?

In all honesty, I find that story a little difficult to believe, coming from a team yet without a car or official sponsor?

They don't need a car right now. Their greatest assets right now are Peter Windsor & his Speed TV friends.

USF1 has the unique position of having a partnership with Speed TV. This creates incredibly strong brand positioning in the prime US market, as well as the international reach of Formula One, for any sponsors joining them.

For that sole reason, pay drivers could organise huge sponsorship deals were they to join the sole US-based team.

Results would not be that important, as a semi-reality tv show based upon nationalistic values of a US team against the world, would bring massive exposure for all sponsors.

Add to that any minor success and you have a marketing machine like no other team in the sport right now.

A most interesting analysis Fil, they are for certain not the typical F1-team.

Do you think the Speed-TV connection only, could financially secure the team along with US pay-drivers?

Still cannot figure why the secrecy?
