Yeah... I think it's legit to be skeptical about Honda because... Well... So far their PU is plain rubbish. I guess that's a perfectly valid reason.

Now, if they actually come with something better, then it'll be fantastic and we'll all celebrate.

And that's not to say that AMR has done a good work either with the first spec of the car. If both did it wrong, they did it wrong.

Going against the ones here that doubt about Honda because of what they've delivered so far seems a little biased way of being aggressive.

Yesterday I was watching a video several times about the 16 modifications that have been made to the AMR26. Considering that the new engine with all its satellite parts is still missing... it seems like almost too many modifications.

On one hand, I think it’s great to make so many because the car is a bit of a mess, but on the other hand, it makes me even more uneasy. How are they going to figure out the source of the handling problems after making so many changes at once? I ended up worrying about the height of the bargeboards: they’ve reduced it now... does this mean that their previous (apparently) excessive height could cause some kind of reverberation that might amplify the damn vibrations? And so I kept imagining the "whys" of each modification. Conclusion? A real mental mess; if the height of the bargeboards was enough for almost a whole novel... putting everything together is an almost excessive challenge for the mind.

Until we have an engine that is more on par with the others, I think the car's driving can be improved. There are some logical things, like having fine-tuned the nose by elongating it as well. The modification of the rear deflector of the front wheels. The details on the engine cover-sides (the air intake seems to be smaller, the Coke shape seems more streamlined to me). I also think it's positive that they have modified the floor overall, especially at its rear part in front of the rear wheel. But from here I get lost, and that’s even without the modifications I consider most important: the front and rear wings; the performance of the diffuser; the rear suspension and its nearby gearbox…

I don’t know how the hell they’re going to be able to quickly tune the car with so many changes. I fear they might get caught in another devilish spiral and not be able to separate each part to understand the overall workings and performance.

But I also hope that Newey really is still who he is and things start moving in the right direction. Because we couldn’t keep going the way we are this season and something had to be done. We’ll see. And there’s still the engine ...

Doesn’t look like I’m going to be bored for the rest of the season
in my opinion tuning the car wont be much different than tuning a brand new car at the start of a season. they are sorta starting from scratch while everyone else has been building their car for half the season haha.

As expected after FP3, Alonso is in the fight for Q2. Sector 1 where the PU matters most is terrible, he is even behind Bottas there, but makes up for it in sector 2 and 3.

Considering we're 17KPH down on the straight, think things look promising when we get the RA626H-B

Yup, Alonso managed to beat a Haas and got P16 and Q2. 1.849s off P1 in Q1. =D>

The huge relief is that their simulation/correlation tools are finally working and the upgraded car works as they hoped it would.

I noticed he finall got it up 322 down the straights but it seem like he then had problems slowing down the car.

All things considering, no time to properly setup and understand the new package, this is a leap of epic proportions for them…

The car is on par to Williams, which is where Stroll is. Alo being able to put it in the fight with Haas and close to Alpine is just an Alo thing.

As sometimes We said... Alo doesn't need to have the best car to win... Just a competitive enough car that isn't excessively far from the best.

Good improvement. They're on the right way! Honda needs to deliver now.

Come on, Stroll missed some of FP1 and all of FP2. That accounts for some of the deficit.

They're in the fight for the back of the midfield with the Haas and the Williams with this upgrade. The Honda upgrade will need to find ~50hp to keep them in this fight at more normal tracks but its gone as well as could have been expected given where they were. I don't think this car is going to trouble the Audi, Racing Bulls or Alpine at most tracks but its something they can develop to maybe score points on merit by the end of the season.

Might have gotten P15 if they waited towards the end, but fine. Q2 is a win at this point, considering the last few races.
