Who is the blonde dude? I hope his presence is not an attempt by Sky to stage an Eddie Jordan clone.

Is this turnes out to be the case then it's time for McL to leave this sport. If the team in front manages to find 1s, then there's no point in even talking about non-existant progress of the team that supposedly has a 3s or so worth of potential of improving itself and hardly manages to improve one bit. Boullier can't even answer if their speed trap is any better than last year, when everyone was literally storming past them. McL doesn't have direct control over Honda, but they have a big influence on them and somehow I have a feeling if Whitmarsh wasn't sacked we would see entirely different team now and much better one without those stupid excuses and amateur car issues.

Very ominous stint times even when accounting for colder conditions!

Actual race stints from last year. Go to the bottom of the page for average stint lap time if you wish:

http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?page ... n%20Vettel

I know, I know. Traffic and all that different conditions etc.. but let us consider that aero has improved, engine and tyres. These stint times are still ominous!
Rosberg was cruising only having Vettel to worry about for most of the race. Hamilton was doing 1:28's once he got in front of Vettel. So really they've only gained about .6 sec per lap based on this stint alone.

They have a filming day tomorrow and 4 testing days. The season is long, let's not make predictions after 4 days of testing. Remember how many miles they completed before today and as they said previously they aren't pushing yet. They haven't even used ultra soft or super soft tyres yet.

The hydraulic leak could have happened to any team, it's not really a follow on of Honda's previous issues I don't think.
I'm trying to be close to reality. I'm not happy with the situation, but what Honda did in the last 10 years in Motorsports that can make me trust them?

Look, I'm open to new facts, but now, nothing seems promissor.

You can say:

test 1: old turbo, new software, old ICE
test 2: new turbo, new software, old ICE
Melbourne: new turbo, new software and new ICE and a win by 30s.

I will applause. But not now.

About 1.7 seconds faster, the hard tire is useless, everyone will avoid it like the plague, every single race except for Malaysia and Suzuka can be done with soft or medium.

Yes 2016 will be the end of the hard tyre.
Sort of get the idea RB and FER are optimizing their package around soft and super soft - med will become their "hard" tyre to be used on demanding tracks.

its beginning to look that way... and Mercedes it appears is focusing on the medium tire to be their go to tire... was a good strategy for them last year because Ferrari had trouble getting that tire up io temperature as quickly as Mercedes did,,, remains to be seen if that is still the case.
looks like they will all focus on medium soft and supersoft...mercedes so far has only ran the medium while red bull and ferrari have ran all three.

I wonder how well the teams did at getting the ultra and super softs switched on given the relatively cool temperatures during testing.

It's not a problem in Barcelona, and it also wasn't that cold, it was actually ideal running conditions.

They have time to fix those problems, the important fact here is if the car is faster than last years design. Because they need to improves, Mercedes has done it.
