So Merc spec 3 for Spa? Monza? Without it I doubt they can match Ferrari.
Toto said they are not sure yet. I don't think they'll catch up with Ferrari in terms of engine power since Ferrari spec 3 is said to be another step as well.

This is where it has been biting Ferrari. When there are no rumors, they come out with something good and when there are these BIG GAINS, BIG STEP, BIG UPGRADE, they turn out to be dud.
Mercedes' whatever scheduled upgrade, would most likely come in Monza, if they are sticking to the schedule. It would be more inline with the development that they have been targeting with their new PU Architecture. There is no way for them to immediately copy from Ferrari and if that means, lag behind power for the rest of the year, may be that is how it is.

Don’t think Mercedes will make up the engine deficit at this stage.

Vettel and Ferrari need victories and also for Kimi to get in front of Hamilton at a few races too

Why is the next spec PU made available immediately after the summer break? Great planning by the FIA

Think the next spec PU can be taken as soon as manufacturers are satisfied it is ready to be introduced. Don’t think it is down to the FIA

All this Bottas talk is getting in the way of savoring the first back to back driver win of the season. Ferrari with far and away the fastest car and still it's not enough. Vettel better turn it on after the summer break. Spa and Monza thankfully coming up.
First Back to back win of the season?

Australia and bahrain Vettel

Baku and Esp Lewis

The development should be on hold during the holiday. All work on test and development should stop.
Maybe there is a pass in place for 'continual processes' like distance testing of an engine? but otherwise it should be the same engine that is available today (except what they can sneak past with)
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

It was really a shame Ferrari mechanics made mistake. If Vettel had come out in front of Bottas, we would have an epic battle between Hamilton and Vettel for the win.
The trouble is we dont know how much pace Lewis or Seb had. So it may not have been the case. Even if Vettel caught Lewis , Seb wouldn't have passed. Seb only passed Bottas because his tyres were so worn. Lewis had 10 less laps on his tyres. So Lewis would never have had the tyre problems that bot had.
I am sure Vet would be there with Lewis in DRS range. However, it would definitely be harder to pass than Bottas. I still think he would have a chance. One slow motion showed how bad Hamilton tyres (I think they were about 15 laps old at that momemnt) were.

All the slow mo's were mainly pickup rather than blistering. Merc was fine on its tyres today

BOOM!

The doubters can say what they want but the win was never in question for the BOSS. It's Hamilton in Hungary "morans!" Delivered pole in the wet and the win from the pole. Just like 2013 Never needed the fastest car just a clean race and clumsy rivals.

Which nr 2 stooge driver will be doing the blocking today is the question F1 fans ask every GP, another Vettel - Hamilton classic, scintillating stuff.

Scared teams faking competition, Mercedes/Wolff instead of taking 1-2 prefer turning F1 into a cheap circus. Barrichello team orders look like pure racing compared to this =P~ .

Vettel on Raikkonen, what a move: brave and precise. Nice chop on Bottas as well.

Enjoy while it last, the winner of Hungarian gp doesn't win the title

Ferrari will dominate Spa and Monza.

Enjoy that thought while it lasts. Vettel never wins a title unless he has a red bull alongside Webber. Lol
Lol Hamilton could not have today without Bottas help
Even Toto agrees with you Fabian77

Yeah, Vettel has the fastest and most reliable car and a proper supporting team mate. He must be miles out in front.
There has been 12 races so far:
Merc had the advantage in 5 of them. Australia, Spain, Austria, France and Britain.
RBR was best at Monaco.
Ferrari at Bahrain, China, Azerbaijan, Canada, Germany and Hungary.
Spain + France = Pirelli spec 2 tires who suits more the W09
Britain + Austria = no significant advantage from the Merc against the Ferrari ?
It's very edgy, I think it's all about how much you can earn points you're not expect to win as Lewis did today !
