Lotus E20 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Has it given them a competitive advantage, I wonder? Can't wait till Australia now!
What is "FEE" ?
Thx for the heads up .

This thread will answer your question and also not answer a lot more. :)

They started 2011 with 2 podiums, can't see why them being competitive now is a surprise.

It's the development marathon that gets them; to improve on last year, which is the only way to measure success, this car needs 3 podiums IMO.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't think we can say anything about that yet. What are you basing that on? They surely put on a heap of new parts(remember their blown rear wing at Spa) in 2010, problem in 2011 was that the whole concept(FEE) did'nt allow for much improvement.
The speed of Ayrton Senna.
The mind of Alain Prost.
The dedication of Michael Schumacher.
The determination of Alex Zanardi.

For sure one big advantage for Lotus and Red Bull is color.Red Bull's dark purple (or something like that), and Lotus' black. You can't see new components and details that easily because carbon fiber has black color.

I saw image of hole in wing in this topic.
If Lotus was red or white car, that hole would be spotted so much easier.

Why is the cascade so narrow on this car. W03 is similar.

What's wrong with that? I don't see anything wrong.

It doesn't extend right out the the endplate (max wing width) or very far inboard. Most teams have these wider cascades.

That duct is probably for driver cooling, most teams have moved there unit to under the nose, Sauber is an example theirs is hard to see also as they have a grey nose.

It is for cooling just for FIA and Charley Whiting.Actually it's function is for reducing drag which nose makes. That can make downforce too.
