Red Bull RB5

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Look like the rear endplates no longer connect to the undertray as before, but hard to tell without a pic.

I doubt it, I'm sure a hollow section low down in the engine bay would be quickly filled, probably by fuel.
It goes under the fuel tank in front of the engine if/when they decide to run it.

Indeed, the nosecone is now much wider, Christian Horner confirmed it (as if we couldn't see it. It looks far less attractive now, in my opinion.)

Can't find a picture, though.

It does look quite odd now but clearly it's damned quick as Vettel and Webber are fastest in FP1 by over 4/10ths and normally RB are only mid pack until FP3 and Qually.

I won't read anything into it. You can't just say "clearly it's damned quick".

Would've thought that with previous experience we'd all know by know that practice means very little in relative terms of pace.

Actually I can, maybe you should pay attention to what has been a pattern for most of this year?

Yeah, FP means very little in most case. Saturday Brawn turn up the wick, Then on Sunday they win. Thats a pattern

Must admit though, They do look fast this week. But that like saying a move is great by just looking at the few pictures.

Indeed a new rear end for the Red Bull car, the rear wign endplates do no meeet the diffuser any longer and the diffuser is much wider. Also the circular exit on the engine cover replaces the open vent run for several races.

Maybe if you watched F1 closely you'd understand me?

Allow me to put it simply for you; all season RBR & BGP have been roughly front-mid pack thru out most free-practise sessions, this time both teams are up the front by a country mile and considering the way go about their weekends (i.e. not showboating like Williams), I believe this is a very ominous sign for all the other teams.
