There were McLaren rumors too... and McLaren approached him to replace Fernando in 2008 too... when it fell through then they went for Hovalovian.

contract status can be altered. they can write Vettel in as joint number 1 therefore equalising the status quo.

whatever happens, Vettel would be well advised by his manager to keep his options open going forward. Red Bull are turning into a loser team and thats something you don't shrug off easily. The more you loose, the harder it becomes to win. they learned how to win races, but they have a long way to go wrt winning championships.

Love em or hate em, Ferrari have learned what it takes to win championships and often that means being unpopular.
With the best car, one great young driver and a average guy driving out ofhis skin, they still can't win it? I suspect Mateshitz will be performing Chris Horner performance review himself in December. Horner will have some really tough questions to answer.
Red Bull is not a loser brand, so why can't it win a championship?

If Vettel has a get out of jail clause he would be well advised to keep his fingers on it.
I would love to see he and Hamilton going at it in McLaren's.

but reality is that he is probably stuck in that unreliable blue bullet and most likely won't win the WDC until he joins Merc in 2013.

So he would be well advised by himself. He has no contracted manager, although Marko could be considered to be in that role career wise.

I think you got your figures wrong. Vettel lost a lot more than two wins to reliability.
I don't want to repeat it all. You can read it in a dedicated thread. The tally is at more than 90 points.

I just did this..
Bahrein DNF that is (1),

In Australia, he was not leading the race when he spun out due to car failure if I am not mistaken.

In China he got pole but finished 6th

In Valencia he won from pole.

In Silverstone he got pole but lost the battle to Webber in the first lap and then ran wide and got a puncture - finished 6th

In Germany he got pole but was overtaken by the two Ferraris

In Hungary he got pole but lost the race due to his drive through penalty for holding up the pack during the SC

In Japan he won from pole

In Korea he got the DNF from the lead that is (2).

There are your 9 poles.
With all those poles another driver would have scored more points in those 9 races..

Now, how about if we talk about the points he threw away when he didn't start from pole..Turkey/Spa. etc.etc

  • Bahrain he finished P4 due to spark plug failure while leading the race
  • Australia he DNFed due to wheel nut or brake failure while leading the race
  • In Turkey he lost pole due to a collapsing right rear suspension
  • Silverstone he dropped to second due to clutch problems (a common theme for both Red Bull drivers) and a racing accident in the first corner with Hamilton which gave him a puncture.
  • In Germany he dropped two positions at the start due to a steering wheel glitch (confirmed by Red Bull)
  • Korea saw an engine failure while leading the race
I'm just correcting the obvious errors there. The issue really belongs in another thread! I do not see how this is related to the topic.

I think Vettel driving a Ferrari would be a very good idea, when the Maranello cars seems sturdy enough for his agressive style.

Well when the last Newey-breaker left Newey, he went for Ferrari, and won a championship their (him of the ice cream and coca cola).

In fact they're both quite similar in terms of strengths. Both regarded to be hugely fast, liking a nice pointy car, not exactly overtaking demons, but at times are able to demonstrate great overtaking skills for some weird flash (SUzuka 05 vs Silverstone '10 or China '10)
