Valtteri Bottas lead the Austrian Grand Prix from start to finish, but it was behind him that all the action happened. Multiple retirements and collisions caused just 11 cars at the finish, with Leclerc and Norris surprisingly joining Bottas on the podium.
Now i'm looking forward to see how Mercedes use DAS to create overtaking opportunities and how it follows other cars, Stewards should've made this call yesterday though and their consistency with all drivers is shocking.
Hilarious! The season hasn't even started and the stewards have already thrown standards out of the window. I don't care whether Hamilton gets a penalty or not, I think there are valid arguments on both sides, but the decision was made. I get this is Red Bull's home track and that Zandvoort is going to be a nice money maker for them but this is even more ridiculous than the lead teams getting the 'black-and-white flag' and everyone else getting a penalty for the same offence. Are we going to even pretend that, if it was Williams or Haas protesting, it would get the same result.
The precedent is now set that, regardless of what the stewards decide, no decision has actually been made. When does a race result get set in stone now?
Frankly, if I was Ferrari, I'd protest Verstappen not getting a penalty for pushing Leclerc off last year.
Verstappen got a penalty last year in Mexico for the same exact thing, there is a precedent. I do agree with you, unfortunately you cannot have F1 without politics.
Smart move by RedBull. Very bad for Hamilton. If this ends up being the short season it will turn out to be, every point counts. This will also make his race difficult with Verstappen on a slower tire blocking the path above.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter
I've been on and off for the last several years due to various reasons, but what I observed at the front of the grid with most drivers taking a knee was the last straw for me.
Best of luck to everyone here, firm handshakes and as the saying goes "Get woke, go broke" nothing meaningful but simple virtue signalling at the front of the grid today.
I don't agree and disavow "real" racism, but what I just observed was just a hollow sh*t show.
Cheers
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.
So some drivers didn’t take the knee as they are entitled to do. I now have an awful feeling some will label them racist because of it. Just for clarification I do not.
Also sorry if this upsets anyone but I thought it was relevant to this thread.
Well, WWE stewarding aside, this could be a cracking race regardless. What a sight it would be to see Norris leading into this first corner (if he gets a good enough start). If a Racing Point can jump Hamilton we'll have four manufacturers in the top 4.
Fingers-crossed for a clean race. If nothing else, so we'll actually know what the result is when the race finishes.
Hamilton out in T1? i see lots of potential for things going wrong.

RedBull being pathetic RedBull again. Can’t get anywhere near Mercedes but get to tell Sir on them. It’s like the horrible oik that nobody liked at school who always climbed up the teachers backside.
If they spent as much time sorting their stuff out instead of crying about others they would be much better off. I must say it must be embarrassing to have to resort to such pathetic tactics because your over half a second behind.
