Wonderful look at how far ahead their throat is, unlike RB and McLaren. Completely different way to work the floor and probably the biggest reason why Ferrari features practically the smallest front wing planform area

Probably not the perfect topic, but i would love a comparison between the RBR triangular edge(almost trying to be an endplate) and the Mercedes very round version(with Ferrari in between, a little bit closer to RBR)

What’s going on with the huge open cooling? The weather is very temperate, mid-20’s max. We haven’t seen the car this opened up all season, even last season. Just surprising? Seems to have changed since the upgrades last race. Is it just that they’re feeding more air through now that they’ve connected the previous s-duct intake and the sidepod inlet itself? Or genuine heat issues?

I would bet they expect to run close to the car in front of them plus Monaco with few straights makes it hard to cool the car as well.

IF the car is moving slower than it does at any point during the season, so will the air, that includes the hot air inside the bodywork. Thsi means at low speeds cooling is quite difficult, you also have to account for potentially running behind cars for many laps. We open the louvres to speed the internal flows up.

An other reason is that here the losses are a lot less per lap.
But since they have a great chance to win, they will probably be happy to cool stuff a bit more, for better reliability.

Can this be related to engine mode?

I'd imagine the maximized qualy engine mode may need all the cooling they can get. Sure you are stuck with it during the race (par ferme), but who cares about a minor drag penalty here?

Interesting visualisation of floor edge vortex on SF-24 during Pirelli wet tyre test. Seems like vorticity is much higher than 2 years ago, judging by the amount of vortex trails now and then.

Well you can't really judge from those two photos since one is taken on the main straight and one just before corner entry.

Is water able to follow vortices closely anyway? I know if its mist it can but above a certain volume surely it's too heavy?
