Various reports coming out saying that Leclerc to Ferrari is a done deal for 2019 - could that mean Kimi might be available for McLaren? One last big payday for him, one of the most experienced drivers in the world to spearhead the new era for McLaren.

New era with the oldest driver? Not too sure about that.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

No way in hell. Just let him retire, he's finished.

I hope Ferrari give Raikkonen the opportunity to retire on his own terms. A cold press release would be a bit disrespectful considering he is their last - and likely to remain that way for at least another year - World Champion.

Sad to see him go, but it seems inevitable now.

Doesn't anybody believe that FI are getting rid of both drivers? That`s really bad nono in F1. It's a fact that Ocon is on the out over there. I doubt Perez is going anywhere for all the reasons mentioned that he would be good at McLaren. Not to mention that FI own him 3 Million pounds.

Did you watch qualifying yesterday and the race today? The only thing finished with Kimi is that he's FINNISH.

And I don't know why people use this McLaren thread to moan and bash basically everyone and everything, even non McLaren things.

Lots of positive noise about the setup breakthrough after Friday. Curious to know what it was.

Can you elaborate? I've been rather out of it recently so not sure what exactly you refer to?

Did McLaren state that they had a setup breakthrough recently?

They were dead last on Friday so made some unknown setup changes and both drivers said the car got fast enough during quali and race to keep up with the others.

The car was terrible on Friday, they improved the setup for Saturday. That's all as far as I know.

On the side of the grid where McLaren is now, they are the only one with a full sim setup in which they can run all kind of setups all night long. During the Daimler days, Paffett more then ones had an all nighter from Friday on Saturday back in Woking. With the rest of the non works teams, its more or less what they find on track
