Just from a performance standpoint, it wouldn't be a hard decision of who to go with if MW struggles compared to Vettel this year. Kimi has had better equipment for sure, but now that MW has superior equipment, if its not put to good use a change wouldn't be shocking.

Well, I'd love to see Kimi back. I guess he fits to RBR and Vettel, too. And he's fast. But honestly, I unfortunately can't imagine that.

I doubt that Raikkonen want's to come back, and more-so risking doing it in a Newey designed car. He's had enough of it from McLaren and even the odd bad spells from the Ferrari's. Although in rally if the car doesn't fail him he will still DNF by flipping it over into the woods.

Thats because any moron can come in and create any thread about what he/she feels like. There is no respect for reading the forum rules, searching for threads that may be already created or even read the forum for a while before jumping in.

Pls merge this to the thread that Panda points out. Thanks.

In *THAT* Red Bull car Red Bull simply cannot afford Webber's results over the past couple of races. It's that simple. Yes he could buck up his ideas for a bit, but will anything fundamentally change? The warning signs were there last year where there was a couple of race wins, but he went AWOL for a while and allowed Hamilton and Raikkonen to get back at him in the championship for a period. Admittedly, there was some bad luck, but it can't all be down to bad luck.

If things don't improve rapidly soon then I would even expect Red Bull to even push to get Raikkonen back this year and allow him to compete in a few rallies here and there. Seriously. When you have an experienced World Champion in your stable of drivers (and experience is a serious commodity with the lack of testing) then it's an option that becomes more and more obvious.

I agree with that criticism. Unfortunately the admin takes the point of view that newbies should be encouraged to participate even when they do not respect the rules. It is up to the more seasoned users to push the exclamation button and get Ciro to rectify things. I would suggest that more people join in the effort to cut down on willy nilly thread opening and point out the existing proper threads.

Kimi is really a hard driver on the car; he just doesn't care about the state of the car and just drives flat-out.

With the current reliability problems with Red Bull, I fear (if ever Kimi brokes in F1 in 2011 with Red Bull) we might see era like when Kimi was in mclaren and was consistently fast, but hampered by reliability problems!

That's a huge misconception and a hangover from the 2005 McLaren days. Alas, Vettel is having to put up with the same questions now when things are clearly not his fault.

Between 20001 and 2005 McLaren had a succession of reliability troubles, mostly engine trouble, and those problems completely ruled Hakkinen out of the 2001 championship. However, it was Raikkonen who got inevitably got saddled with causing some of those problems because he was in the McLaren out in front and he was the most visible element.

He doesn't just drive flat out either, although his speed is very good when he needs to do that. China 2007, where he really won his championship, was a classic example. Hamilton raced off into the distance, Raikkonen measured his pace and conserved his tyres, stayed behind and didn't try to keep up and Hamilton inevitably destroyed his tyres trying to stay out.

@Panda: another typo here. :wink:

back on topic now:

It isn't a misconception; just look at 2005 and you will know. Also, the F60 wasn't a good car to drive, but he drove it like a mad; drenching every ounce of performance from it every time there was an outing.

Yes, Vettel is in the (somewhat) same boat now; Red Bull need to up their game to cope, but as we saw last year, lead build at the start of the season counts to some extent! Red Bull are aware of this and are working hard, but when will we see the outcome is an unknown factor, yet!

Yes, in 2005 that McLaren, and especially its Mercedes engines, were as unreliable as they had been for years previously. Hakkinen retired with problems - a lot in 2001. Coulthard retired with problems. Montoya retired with problems. There is nothing that you can pin on any one of those drivers as to what they had done wrong. The Ferrari that he then drove was somewhat more reliable and this melted away.

I don't know where you get that from. When you're in a bad car then you have to get as much as you can out of it and adjust accordingly. That doesn't mean that he drove like that all the time, and China 2007 proved otherwise.

Yer, but you can't pin his driving style on these things.

It's a complete myth that people go for when they want someone visible to pin the blame on.
