The tyre preservaton is just a mith. Look at today jenson aditted he cewed his rears up to easily.
malaysia was a freak race and unchartered territory with these new tryes, not helped by lewis bein given set of old hards.

Yeah, and Hamilton would get a penalty for it...

I think Button's case was not a case of extreme deterioration but a case of not being able to drive with loss of rear grip. After watching the last stages of the race more closely you can see that both Mclarens and the Mercedez were sliding through some of the corners.

On his red button interview, claimed he asked for the option twice at each pit stop he made, but each time was sent back out on the prime.

who was sent out on the prime? Are you talking of Sepang or Shanghai?

On the red button interview with Hamilton after todays race, he referred back to being upset at the end of Sepang, after twice asking his team for the option during his pit stops only to be turned around on the prime (both times). Therefore it wasn't quite the case that the wrong set of primes had been put on his car. It seems that that the team's view (McLaren strategists?), was the the prime was better for the middle-stint than the option. Strange decision I thought at the time as everyone else was on the option. The prime is not as durable and neither as quick as the option.

But didn't lewis run option=option=prime=prime=prime?

Common consensus was that he had used one more set of options during Q3 Sepang to challenge Vettel for pole. From todays interview, he appears to suggest that he still had an option left to run.

It's clearly not a 'mith', whatever that is. Lewis had new sets of options for the race in China, Jenson did not.

Lewis locked his front tyres in the final stint and had to carry a heavy flat spot through to the end of the race, he was concerned about making it to the line.

For whatever reason, Jenson didn't have pace on the primes in China and Lewis did. Ominous because it was the other way round in Sepang.

Hamilton's used Prime is Sepang was done for from the begining, 2 second a lap slower out of the box, so it only seemed Button was much faster on the primes in Sepang. Not the case though.

In China we saw that Hamilton preserved the soft and Hard tyre better than Button. Myth Busted.
