Confirmed by Peter Windsor, USF1 have agreed in principle with Jose Maria Lopez for a 2010 toaster pending adequate sponsor backing (and a super-license of course!)..

2004 F3000 - Consistency seemed to be his strength in results
2005/2006 GP2 - Retired in 18 of 44 races, won 1, 6 podiums

Renault's secondary test driver behind Franck Montagny (2005) & Heikki Kovalainen (2006)

Last run in an F1 car was 2007 Williams demo run..

I guess that the idea of having American drivers, as well as no pay-pilots, has been given up upon,
but I'm very happy to see they are at least negotiating drivers.
