@ Ferrari hiding the race sims, yeah, they probably are hiding them or they have issues and are not able to do the race rims as yet.

The Mercedes is a solid 1.2 seconds faster than the Renault at minimum, so expect the rest of the midfielders to be dristributed in a range of 1.4 to 0.8 seconds a lap down on race pace. I think the Ferrari is not any closer than 0.3 seconds.

I have averaged out the stints on soft and medium , the diff is around 0.2 at this circuit.

Ferrari are doing race/quali sims tomorrow and on Friday. Leo Turrini was very content this morning and just said to wait for Friday.

I think difference will be 2 tenths.

Nico and Lewis probably used fresh and worn mediums for different stints.

Tyre wear is the most critical area and any insight into whether or not Mercedes have improved their understanding of the Pirelli tyres is very useful if you're a betting man. If Ferrari are closer over a single lap and can maintain their characteristic long stints, Mercedes can easily be beaten. Mercedes race strategy and idiotic adherence to fairness between their drivers make then exceedingly vulnerable to an even slightly more competitive Ferrari. Whilst Nico and Lewis bicker and snipe one another Sebastian can clean up relaxed in the knowledge that the whole of the Ferrari machine is working for him and him alone.

Where do you guys get all this info regarding 0.2-0.3sec to Mercedes? I would like to believe it, but I have no reason to do so.

Count me as skeptical until I hear something similar from Nico or Toto. In the meantime, to me this is like Lewis complaining about Interlagos being such that you can't overtake. He does tend to blame outside factors when he's slower--like a basketball player blaming his shoes for missing a freethrow.

cooler temperatures...more than likely to simulate hotter race temperatures.... makes the car a bit more aerodynamic but that wouldnt be the reason for doing it.....

For the tape - I think it's a bit distorted by the angle of the radiator and also the angle of the camera. I think we don't see quite a lot or the upper part of the radiator. For me it's not more than 50% covered, maybe less...

There is quite a large differential between the lap times of Rosberg and Ham on race runs. Hamiltons final stint looks crazy consistent in comparison. But these were on different days, so possibly track conditions played a part.

Sounds like, from what Button was saying, the wind was very disruptive this afternoon; that would explain erratic lap times and gaps to Rosberg.

My estimation is race pace average, and for that, 0.3 seconds is actually a decent amount. Imagine a heated chase started on worn rubber and on full tanks: the race leader is pulling away at 0.3 seconds a lap. In three laps he is 1 second ahead in six laps he is 2 seconds ahead.. and so on. Over 66 Barcelona laps a quick and dirty calculation gives 20 plus second lead by the flag. Still dominant if you ask me.

That side is the intercooler radior I think so they could be simulating a worst case scenario where inlet temps are too hot how the engine reacts.
