He is the team principal, he is not there to call strategy. Should he be driving the car as well under that same logic? It is his job to have the best people in the right positions, then manage them, like every other team principal, including Ron Dennis before him.

The one question he should have been asking is why was his team splittling the strategies. They are running 1 and 2, they are fighting the RBRs, and then they go ahead and split the stratgies.... to cover Alonso?

His job is not to call the strategies but it's his job to question them. Instead of finishing a 1-2, they have finished 1-4 and have lost valuable WCC points to RBR and instead of Hamilton closing the gap on Vettel, we have Vettel extending the lead.

They made a mistake as a team, and putting all the blame down to Whitmarsh in my eyes ignores the fact he led a team that turned a pre season dog into a multi race winner against a formerly dominant Red Bull.

I still don't see calling for the head of the team principal to be at all just in a situation like this. It was a race in changing conditions and not everyone is going to get it right every time.

If anything, Lewis's side of the garage has been the ones making these bad calls, and its a poor manager that ignores what his experts think.

It's more down to Lewis engineer.
He needs Prew back. The new structure they are using is kind of making strategy less effective.
Mclaren are shooting themselves in the foot too many times this year.

If it's so, hard for lewis to accept it.
Otherwise, get rid of lewis engineer and hire an Ascanelli in his place.

Yep, at least Ron knew how to win champiopships. MW plays nice with other teams and his two drivers, but his style of racing doesn't bring championships. Like I said before, McLaren doesn't have a dominant car, so they don't have much chance of winning the WCC and they are squandering their chance of winning the WDC by playing games with their lead driver. Look at how close Alonso was last year in a slower car.

98% of the time he does not make the call for tyres in the race. Check the mclaren live feed and Whitmarsh's apologies after the race. They gave him the super softs and after realising the mistake they gave button the harder soft.
