It still won't give us a pecking order.. We will only know in Melbourn ...at the end of the race weekend what the pecking order is

Hope McLaren weren't pushing for an ultimate lap time on the US. Was pretty slow compared to the other big boys.
Finally, everyone knows that Red Bull is a joke and Max Verstappen is overrated.

no bad, i'm suprised to see 1.22.765 with US and 1.23.009 on S.
only 0.300s ?
Well the US probably losses its optimal grip halfway trough this track, but in Monaco it will deliver much more

you're right !
Kimi's left tire after his run.

Update: Kimi also smashed the fastest time of testing so far with a 1.22.765 on Ultra softs... but the time on softs is really eye catching!
Cannot say anything, until we know amount of fuel... Nevertheless it is possitive.
He had some fuel left, because he made more laps, but the lap after 1:23.009 was more then second slower.
I am more suprised that time on ultrasoft is so slow (I would expect 1,5s faster compared to soft, once again, the may be running with more fuel with ultra soft.)
Rosberg admitted he ran qualifying simulation when he posted 1:23.022 so Kimi's 1:23.009 is definitely comparable.

I think ultrasoft on this track don't bring so much time because of the track configuration (lot of long fast corners, high energies going through the tyres which induce overheating). They are made only for tracks like Monaco, Singapore etc. so I'm not really surprised they don't bring big laptime improvement here.

Do we have stint data for Kimi's soft tire run where he did 23'009 ''?

I've read here he set the time as 3rd lap of the stint and on other source I've read he did one more lap after he set the time with +1.1s and then probably in lap... so at least 5 lap stint...

Ah. Thanks for that.

I think Alonso used SS only. No US yet for Mclaren.

What's nice is that Kimi set this time with "old" airo...

Kimi US lap was not going full beans. he did 1m22.765s and the next lap was 1m23.4s. So he still had battery left for a second one. Probably a simulation of what would be starting a race with US and not what would be a full quail lap since the quail mode should darin all the power in a single lap

well today is the penultimate day of testing and the only thing we saw aero wise perhaps was the 'halo' joke.

so i guess this is what we're going to see in Melbourne. Nonetheless the time on softs was really encouraging. Would have wiped a few smirks off the Merc garage :)
