McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

That'll increase aerodynamic efficiency as well as giving it a lot of DF

That new nose is really is pretty ugly but quite ingenious, exciting to see such a radical approach.

Outside ducts to feed the new chassis turning vanes, centre duct for driver cooling/S-Duct?

Wow that’s nuts. Do we know what’s going on here? At least hey delivered on visual impact.

First glance all the inlets look vulnerable to blockage from debris

It looks like they merged the nose from Red Bull and the Sauber.

This is really something never seen before, on the other hand so much elements can lead to complications as well. What will happen when they will follow the car infront? If the front wing and tea tray alone get messed up completely when in slipstream, then this could as well be a recipe for a disaster. Spain is quiete certain a write-off, or atleast a stalemate in terms of results. On the other hand, if this really works and it proves gains, than Mclaren has just started a Development world war III.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Very impressed with the new nose design. Everyone else is now on the back foot, as this nose incorporates a whole new philosophy for the rest of the car. Beautiful! I really like what they've done with the car so far, it's going in the right direction for sure. Now they just need time to get the setup dialed in =D> excited and eager to see what they can do in the race with this, I hope the McLaren guys finally get the car they deserve after all these years.

I also like the direction they're going with the side pod end plate.

How is this leaving everyone else behind? It's basically a mash up of ideas that others have been using. The only thing different are the side pieces. If Mercedes thought they were beneficial they'd likely have added those to their thin nose. We shall see...

Don't wanna be that guy but I don't think the nose itself has a big influence on overall performance.
