McLaren's mirrors

Post

I was watching some onboards from Australia GP and I've noticed that mirrors on the McLarens were shaking (flexing) quite a bit in high speeds, giving the impression they were loose. Has anyone else noticed that? Isn't that disturbing the air flow too much when it happens? Any ideas?

In general , no. But I did notice left mirror of K.R.s car shaking.
Shaking or moving mirrors should not be a desirable issue.
We have seen mirrors at Williams shaking ,then tending to fall away(Canadian GP?) and then needed to tear off at a pitstop.

I picked up on this too. Mclaren have opted for mirrors that reachout wide from their mounts near the cockpit. These do in fact contribute a small amount to aerodynamic efficiency. Their design makes them liable to flexing, I doubt this makes a huge difference to their small aero effect, but would make them useless as mirrors.
