Lotus E23 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According to Craig Scarborough This is the new nose of the Lotus. Personally, I can not distinguish the differences

Sorry but :

@GuguVonPis nothing yet. that's the old nose. We will see on Friday."

It's almost the same. Just a little difference under the pylons

Without my simulation pen i would say that they need "little endplate" only, well first it's unavoidable you have to have a material link because like cyndy says we live in a material world, to maximise the acceleration given by the nose trumpet! but then the nose strakes just brake the flow, and the design of the outward part of nearby wing create a convergent "impulse" which is futher apllied to the whole flow instead of just the one stuck between strake and wing, i have to verify this thing 8)
The whole effect should be more acceleration so low pressure to the flow, well that's my best guess.

you're misquoting me. I said lotus are predicted to have new nose. I didn't say that was the new nose

But you could have only one pylon according to redbull vision of formula one future

in fact it's not coming from redbull design office, can be deleted

Re: Lotus E23 Mercedes

according to my feeling this is completely misposted fan-art

BTW: Lotus without steering display (because they can't fund it on both cars, only one till Malaysia(so no one got it; AMUS)... :(
and this was the reason for MAL to violate VSC time

and problems with brake-by-wire system in Malaysia on MAL car,
Lotus own system(or was it GRO, one car had pneumatic problem with ICE)
wonder if it is generally hampering their PU and braking performance...
why did they develop it on their own, cheaper?
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Scuse me for my mistake, I didn't careful ! However, we can see that nose pylons have changed. Do you know what is the use of this change ?

Re: Lotus E23 Mercedes

it was a joke ! it is minor but together with a slight nose tip modification it should increase air speed reducing static pressure, the moustache hanging too low was detrimental to the acceleration given by neutral plane (which isn't neutral because in ground effect and slightly incline) and nose inlet. It's like, try to eat french fries with mayonnaise and big moustache, something will go wrong

Be aware that french fries come from Belgium !... :D More seriously, I had understood that it was a joke but I wanted to know what was the use of this small upgrade. The real nose modification will arrive in Bahreïn or in Barcelona isn't it ? In China, they will have a new FW if I remember good.

They were using magneto-aerodynamic but it didn't work (too slow) so they don't need those parts anymore...
