For those who have the F1 Live Timing App, testing will be covered.

Please let this work !! please please please. Will make testing 1000 times better with some proper timing. Although it doesn't say live timing, I guess minute by minute could be an update on lap times every minute , hopefully.

This will make it easy to draw comparisons from respective long stints. The beauty of having less fuel in the tank and more weight in the cars is that it's easier to draw conclusions because those variables don't fluctuate as much as previous years. In the V8 era it was easy to go below minimum weight, in the v6 era, cars are barely making minimum weight. This year probably they're a little bit better than last year. I still think teams are struggling to make minimum weight, but I suppose it's a compromise they have to make. The electric machines may just be that important that their added weight is worth their output. It does mean the most expensive and interesting developments will be hidden from view, but I can overlook that.

But does live timing mean the kind of sector by sector thing we used to get? Inc type of tyre etc?

For me would make all the difference on whether to buy the app or not.

It's going to be cool and muggy all week, may be damp in the morning tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be dry for most of the test, it's definitely going to be cloudy. The rain isn't expected to fall until the end of the week around Friday or Saturday, the following week will have slightly better conditions.

I feel I have to buy the App each year, and cant survive without it. Sonething like £20 a year, so this year will be under a £1 a race :D
As for testing, laptimes will be enough. At least I can see what everyone is running instead of waiting for Autosport to tell me what happened 10mins ago.

When can we see some lap timings of day one at Barcelona testing? is there any website to track the event live?

Think we wont make much of the times just yet. I just hope for Macca's sake, they can do a lot of laps without having major issues. They are starting with the 2015 PU not correct? (and 2016 ERS)?
