Yes, but a good start and they have a good chance the Mercedes at bay for the rest of the race.

Their pace in Monaco was encouraging for the slow sector.
Thank you really doesn't really describe enough what I feel. - Vettel

Some days ago I was afraid about FIA installing a chicane half straight. Now I´m almost sure that straight will never be that straight, specially after watching pictures showing curbs wich made some corners tighter than we saw on that onboard lap

Anyone want to do a bet about this? I bet a six pack the straight will never be a 2,2km straight, probably a chichane at those corners mid straight wich they would take flat otherwise

I´d be really happy to lose the bet tough :D

Ok... but they didn't make it to Q3 and scored just a single point. I know the race was wet but Williams are slow on 'street circuits' (low speed), it is hard to argue that.

I don't know, depending on what speed turns 18 through 20 can be taken at, overtakes might be inevitable once someone gets into DRS range.

Pirelli boss Paul Hembery admits that the tyre company is concerned about Baku's long straights potentially generating a standing wave issue, which, in an extreme case, could lead to failures.

Standing waves can become a threat to the integrity of tyres under certain combinations of high speeds and cornering forces.

They created the problems suffered by Michelin at the 2005 US GP, and again became a talking point after last year's Belgian GP, where Sebastian Vettel suffered a failure.

I just looked at those, and I don't see how turns 18 and 19 can be taken flat!

They also said it's only 220 meters to turn 1 from P1, so jumping people at the start will be hard!

Is this the first instance of SAFER barrier used in F1?

Brilliant link. The corner everybody is talking about (T10) looks like this:

I love castles and F1, can I ask for more? hahaha. This corner looks tricky.
I hear the best way to navigate that corner is to turn the steering wheel towards the left.

Sure. I really enjoy seeing these kinds of pre-race photos.
