But saying it´s worrying is VERY different to saying they´ve failed before the season starts
Well, they have failed to do a good jod durinb Winter as it has been shown. Let´s see if they can do a better job during season. Its basic to make sure that the problems are not related to the basic charactheristics of the PU, because even without token rectriction, a faulty design can not always be solved.

Obviously you can't say Honda failed the 2017 Campaign alltogether. At the Moment they failed to bring a decent PU for Testing. I hope for something decent come Melbourne and something good'ish come the European Races.

McLaren obviously can't make up the Time they lost in Winter Testing but seeing their correlation was good last Year and EB confirming it should be good this Year i Hope the Chassis and Aero Teams were able to do some good development for this Weekend. No way the Floor they ran in testing was the Final Form.
The team improved a lot over the season last year. They can do the same this year.

Only comparable would be Red Bull and Renault had a bad winter test season in 2014 but recovered enough for the car to be on the podium at OZ

Dont forget amazing in season development Last year, it is almost brand New engine (spec 3),even better than Ferrari 2015 TJI engine! I would not write off them yet. With sooo much innovation in their engine, Hard to get right in winter testing alone. We will see True potential after season half i guess.

@mwillems I didn't mean to give you the impression I thought the picture was a good Idea.

I dont.

I just don't think it was released with the intent to bash Honda.

I also dont get the impression that McLaren do alot of Honda bashing. They have been fairly reserved and have never approached the RBR on Renault levels.
The only reasonable thing to have done that montage is the welcoming of Hakkinnen back to Mclaren as representative. So it is a MP4-13 mixed with Mcl32 But with so many reports of Mclaren looking to other engines and maybe replacing Honda with Manor Mercedes engines available the tweet was not published in the right moment or the message wasn't clear.
agreed.

whether allowing the replacement of the engine in 2017? sounds like the idea of using Mercedes engines 2016 with the Honda brand is very interesting.

That is worse than 2015 Honda engine's situation.

I was laughing so loud at this, that my wife asked me if i was okay, or that i needed some mental help.

Thanx for sharing GTO99!
Classic and totally surrealistic Spanish TV classic.

By the way, Honda says that more changes have been done to secure "a decent perform" in Australia.

I was expecting more from a Canadian!
Come on, chill a little. You've got to admit that guy's laugh was hilarious!
I was expecting more from Honda! I even own one. I'm certain McLaren & Alonso are significantly more disappointed than I am. Anyway, I think both McLaren & Honda have the resources to pull their underwear up & turn things around by 2018 pre-season testing. :P

MAX F1:

2017 Pre-Season Testing Top Speeds:
McLaren MCL32 Honda RA617H 324.3 km/h
2016 Testing Top Speed:
McLaren Honda 330,2 km/h
Only 6 km/h slower than last year with all the extra drag.

I would have thought it to be a lot worse by all accounts / reports / articles

They are 16 km/h slower in 2016 AND 2017 from the fastest time set.

Now we can agree, even when they said theirselves before winter tests their radical design might bring unintended reliability issues, so not that they were targeting a bullet proof PU and it turned out to be unreliable exactly

Why? If there´re enough money to redesign, any problem can be solved, and Honda is investing huge amounts of money to succed, so you can be sure that´s not a problem. And if you´re not fighting for the title you´re not worried about receiving a penalty at some GP, so they can re-design the whole PU as many times as they want/need
