Firing Bullier?
As far as i know they will be with Honda in 2018, for sure. At least the "legal" date to inform the FIA about an engine supplier change has expired.

Alot of tough talk by Alonzo, it has been mentioned before, his options are limited. He can say whatever he wants, I would put the odds at 90% that he's coming back.

I'd agree. It's either Ferrari or Mercedes and I don't see both teams wanting two No.1 drivers in their line-ups. Hamilton/Vettel to win championship and a good wing man each.

Alonso to Indycar for 2018 if the new Honda PU doesn't deliver at Spa.

It is said they discoverd the PU problems coused by fault design made by Gilles Simon(who is now fired) in December......SPA is on AUG 25-27.....so it took 8.5 monts for Mario Illien adviced PU to be introduced?

And if it is SPA whit new heads, pistons and injection what will be introduced in Canada as AMuS reports?

Thanks.

Firstly they planned it to Canada. It seems that they are not sure now to get it ready for canada but still there is a small probability. İf there is not a big issue at their devlopment, I don't expect that intoducing updated PU will take that much time. We are hopefully waiting it. I don't know but my way of thinking, if something planned for Canada isn't come there then I will wait it next one.

New Heads, pistons and injection will not be ready for Canada 100%.

Original plan was to have it ready for Canada but the other out of the blue problems(vibrations) they ran into at the first test put a wrench to that plan. But miracles can happen!

Also it's not Illien's CC design.

Based on the engine issues he had in testing and qualifying which cost him a front row start... I doubt it...

It seems people on this forum are falling for the same cult of personality they accuse Honda of both doing and not doing simultaneously.

First some people complained about "Japanese work culture" -> let's get external help -> yay Giles Simon -> bad engine -> "Japanese work culture" -> let's get external help -> Mario Illian.

You can't have it both ways IMO. The failings must a common element of both magical people, or they got unlucky and went the wrong way with the design.

Personally I think they have a measurement + validation / process problem, us arguing about which "god" of engine design will save them is ludicrous.

I agree with same architecture, but think it imperative they start work on a parallel program for 2018 to ensure reliability. Half the year is basically gone. They MUST start 2018 doing 120 + laps EVERY day of testing. Otherwise another year wasted.
They started that some months ago, it´s the 2017 PU

There´s no mayor changes for next season, so this PU is the base for next season PU.

What days of testing?

There´s no proper testing, so it´s a much better option to use 2017 GPs as testing to develop, evolve and improve the PU so there´s some chance next season they can be somewhat competitive.

Also, how are you going to work on 2018 PU if the base is not properly developed yet? Before improving something you must first know what to improve. You cannot work on next season PU before solving 2017 PU problems, at least if you don´t want to start from scratch, wich I hope is not the case as that´s what they did this 17 season so starting from scratch again would mean they failed miserably in 2017... again. I hope that´s not the case, so I expect them to develop 2017 PU during the whole season, and continue that development next season
Those valuable 8 days of testing at Barcelona before the season starts.
So we´re in May and you´re thinking about winter tests? :o What should they do the previous 7 months?

That´s what I meant, working on 2018 PU at this point is absurd, developing 2017 PU is actually developing 2018 PU, with the bonus it can and will be tested on track as soon as any improvement is implemented, and that is proper development, contrary to working on 2018 PU at this point, as that would be only on paper without real testing

Monaco will be a good oportunity to solve some doubts at that respect. I really hope they can perform decently so we can say the chassis must be good, otherwise this season will be depressing...
