I do not know what kind of promise they made to Alonso. #-o
Fortunately Honda will be in a better team, away from these problems.

@kaepernickus That's an interesting suggestion that the Renault could be rebranded in the McLaren.

Nissan maybe! 😃

Or Infiniti eventually.

Or even Datsun would be a step up at this point.

Not sure who else Renault - Nissan own but I thought they owned Mazda as well?
I do quite like the mock up liveries using the Alpine brand...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Red Bull could be set to lose Renault power, as the McLaren-Honda divorce nears conclusion.

With Honda benefitting from considerable technical help from an Ilmor group that includes ex-Mercedes engine engineers, there is of course realistic hope that Honda will finally make a competitive breakthrough next year.

McLaren’s decision to annul its engine partnership with Honda is having reverberations through the whole field.
Renault may force Redbull's hand into taking Honda engines. In that case i think it would be better for Redbull to take the Honda engines in 2018 rather than 2019. 4 cars will surely expedite the development, which our former partner Mclaren didn't allow.

Oopss..
Poor Renault they will have a new scapegoat to justify their amarteurism
I wonder what McLaren or Alonso will do if they encounter what verstappen lives this season. I think Renault will be better next season but we won't know until see it
I hope the same. But with a redesigned pu they will encounter problems at the beginning
PU will not redesign.2018 PU will be upgraded 2017 PU concept

There is still a big focus in trying to follow our road map and make sure that next year’s engine is there. And as it is an engine that is close to this one, it is easier to transfer ideas from one to the other."

Is this the same Illien that was dismished by Renault, because a lack of potential? :D

Honda could benefit from considerable technical help if they accept it, as far as we know this hasn´t be the case with McLaren.

2018 is too early for RB, 2019 should be more appropiate.

It´s the same man that founded "Ilmor Engineering". I believe it´s now known as "Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains".

"humiliating loss of prestige"

In my opinion, that happened before Honda joined.

Then Abiteboul said same thing like Taffin

I suspect a hint of bias.
