It really seems like Hartley prefers the last aero update and Gasly doesnt. If Hartley would have qualified better it might have been a points race here.

I'm not sure what a team is to do if the drivers prefer different packages to this degree.

Horrible race for Gasly, losing seconds to Haas and Saubers every lap from beginning. They concentrated on race pace and still could not get the setup. Suppose he will say he had damage on floor.
It looks like he lost concentration for this season. This is not good for a race driver.

Yes, Gasly is certainly one that doesn't like to be shown up by his teammate, even if there are legitimate reasons that are outside of his control - I guess that's the kinda persona you need to succeed in this sport, unfortunately.

Seems like a typical season at Toro Rosso with drivers. The team management cannot properly manage the relationships between drivers for the good of the team, there is no stability for the drivers, who are either flavor of the month, to be moved up to the Red Bull team, or on a short rope with all sorts of dire consequences hanging over them. This goes all the way back to when the team was bought from Minardi. And the constant factor in all of this? Franz Tost.

It's dog eat dog at TR. There is almost no point in helping the team mate or even the team itself. It narrows down to driving your heat out and hope you are picked by Dr. Marko.

Yep, the ugly side of Toro Rosso. Ultimately you either impress the Helmut or you're out. There's no point in making long-term plans in the team.

problem with TR is mechanical grip. i hope they just put down the monaco rear wing for this abu dhabi gp. it not efficient car but its the best way to be quick off slow corners. slow corner grip was terrible in brazil. which meant the exit speed to the long straight is compromised.

Carlos Sainz said that he was impressed on how the Honda PU accelerated after the last turn until last gear on the straight. He was unable to catch Gasly until the Honda hit the last gear and lost some acceleration. So, with almost sure superior chasis of the Renault car, it seems that the 3.1 PU is doing well

The only serious problem that I see. It is that TR does not understand the tires ...
They could never make them work properly, and Franz said it more than once throughout the season.

Not a fair comparison as they have different tyres at different stage of race. In quali, it was clear that they lost more in twisty section in Mexico. Same in Austin, losing few tenths.

Looking at the standard 2 days late exciting F1 feed that is never on live, Gasly was right to be pissed with Hartley demanding to pass by with Sainz up his tail. Gasly was putting Sainz behind him for 20+ laps, who was lot closer to Hartley then the Kiwi was to Gasly. Perez was half a lap ahead, dont understand the decision by the team and race engineer. Proper rudderless bunch with no direction on setup and no clue on tyre, always messing up. They better get help from RedBull as prize money will be next to nothing next year.

I don't agree, last race they did it the other way around, and Hartley gave him his place to maximize the chance of points for the team - so he was right to expect the same now.

And Gasly was on massive fuel saving mode and couldn't even keep Sainz behind in the end, so what should he be "fighting" for?
