honda are very unfortuante. they have been given 2 rookies to compare. its starting all over again for them. i think they should buy out force india. no point trying to hope that TR will get good drivers . TR will always be a B team to redbull. what is honda trying to gain from this?
they couldn't care less they invested in the technology thats the point
and why would they buy FI Honda can't produce a great chassis .. meanwhile the best chassis on the field is a beggar
who wish to have a proper PU its a no brainer for both to team up only one thing remains to be seen Honda to introduce the updated powerful version of the PU in midseason.
para bellum.

Toro Rosso was 4th team or around 4th last year's first half with renault PU. So they have ability to make good chassis. In a competition It is not just what you do but in the same time what others do. So there can be ups and downs. Think that where would be Toro Rosso if they were using mercedes Pu last season .
If both side make a better development than rivals... This is what we hope...
Watching fast cars running on circuit is not good. Hope we can see challenge all area and seeing developing Toro Rosso Honda with it very good to watch

It’s also worth bearing in mind that STR’s mid season upgrades weren’t as good as hoped, hence why they got rid of their head of aero at the end of the season.

Gasly says they will be good at low speed tacks. So they are not good as aero but they trust their mechanical grip

Hmm. Though they might be rookies the engine prowress on the straights can't be masked. It was still obvious last year that Stroll's williams was tough to overtake on the straights and he did a bit of overtaking there too. For that reason i'm just looking on their straight line performance.

i am never fond of rookie drivers. it take them at least one full year for them to get them to proper speed. gasly and hartley cannot push the car to its limit. next year they could but this year its a learning year for them. look at stroll and sritikon and palmer. kyatt should have been retained but they didnt. last year honda was compared to renault that was in a redbull. now we know how much redbull aero alone gives them that advantage. if honda become a redbull partner then we will see a true picture of how good a honda engine can be. till then its all speculation. or the FIA decides to measure the power output of all the engines and put it out in open.

if marko and redbull team is saying honda engine is almost par with renault. then we should see much closer times but there are many factors to consider, driver performance. aero efficiency and others. so toro rosso is unfortunately the only benchmark honda is compared too. hopefully a redbull honda can silence some critics.

Is there any news about the MGU-H? :-s
Maybe someone has read something in a Japanese article?
It is already Tuesday and I am very curious.

First change of the season in engines. New engine ICE (2), turbo (2) and MGUH (2) for Gasly after the break Australia. New MGH (2) and turbo (2) for Hartey as a precaution. The MGUH and Turbo have an evolution with respect to Australia. The Turbo and MGU-H are more reliable.

Edit: Motorsport:
Toyoharu Tanabe, technical director of Honda's F1 project, explained that the internal combustion engine on Gasly's car had been damaged by a problem with the turbo and MGU-H.

Honda has modified the turbo and MGU-H ahead of this weekend's race in Bahrain to avoid a repeat, and will fit those parts to Gasly's car and his teammate Hartley's as a precaution.

If that's true, I'm surprised they will be changing ICE as well. Why would this be required?

Additionally, does anyone know if it is possible to apply any 'fixes' to any problematic components which have already been used at least once? If yes, what are the parameters allowing to do such thing without the item constituting as a new part?

i checked the honda site and tanabe is saying the mgu h failure had a knock on effect on the ice as well. personnally its better to change it rather than failing in the race

Very poor engineering design from Honda. No wonder Mclaren were fed up. Have to replace the whole PU component due to an anomaly.
Wazari your spec 4.0 is even worse in terms of reliability than what they had before. Surely this new ICE is the old conservative one and now only one more engine for rest of the year. Guess this nee combustion process will not happen.

Why do you bother writing something that does not contribute anything to the thread?
You get negative points, your messages are reported.

People must think before writing something. It is a recommendation, not a criticism.

This is the general Honda thread, in the general chat forum, it isn't meant to be overly technical. McMika98's comments are no worse than others made here. The negative vote for "not technical" is invalid in this, a non-technical thread.

I can understand sentiment like theirs, it is frustrating and some people don't keep that frustration to themselves very well. Sure, the post could have been better thought out, but still, it wasn't any worse than a good number of awful comments written in many of the non-technical threads.
