If you folks had the money for an old F1 car, which would you buy? Don't worry yourself with whether or not an example is for sale. Just which would you want? Personally, I'd love a Brabham BT49 or Tyrrell 012.

Well I would go with an MP4-20 or the F2004

The only reasonable buy to me seams to be any late 80s early 90s "pre-sequential" car with Cosworth V8 which you can start almost singlehanded and drive. Anything more modern is just for looking.

I agree with manchild, anything newer than a DFV would be too expensive to run. DFVs are a pain in the ass and expensive to run but i reckon i could just about manage one for the sound!

Well it would have to be a post ground effect, pre-driver aids and normally aspirated Lotus, Wlliams or Tyrrel

Lotus 25, no question. Close second though, fan car, ground effects, FW14b (bit boring though) late 70s Ferrari, Arrows A2 and the 2000 Arrows for the paint job.

Benetton B189 is my all-times favorite F1, so I'd love to have it. On a reasonable basis, that B188 would be a more sensible approach, I also love the car and it was fitted with a classic Cosworth, which should make all the difference in terms of being easier and cheaper to run.

McLaren MP4-15 for it's looks, a pity though for the exploding engines
