No, they are pandering to the majority of the fan base that found most of the first half of this season's races quite boring, that inclues the hard core fan base.
Evidence please.

lmao, that's just about as useful as driver of the day rating.

racefans.net's membership is as good as it gets for fans, pretty much the opposite end of the scale from diver of the day. their bad races are bad!

A URL would be helpful. That's a big site and on first look I can't see the 2019 GPs rated.

Sounds like an idea that has not been well thought out.

Racing conditions will likely lead to higher wear on all parts of the car, which leads to increased Team costs.
Urgency to overtake in the Sprint will lead to more accidents, which leads to increased Team costs.
More accidents the day before the race will Lear to more Teams working late into the night/through the night to get the cars ready for the Race, violating current regulations and leading to increased Team costs

I like ideas leading to increasing the competitive balance, but this seems like a “gimmick” to me.

you're imagining a world in which F1 teams and drivers don't think or learn. If they tangle on Saturday they're at the back of the grid on Sunday.

On costs, teams make a huge amount of money from their share of the profits, and the idea is to have F1 make more profit, by increasing the paying audience, by making it more exciting, by not starting the Sunday Race in Speed Order already!

i'm still waiting for someone to explain why starting in speed order is so great

You are imagining a world free of stupid drivers. Just ask Charles about Mag in Japan last year.

Because the has runs are already out of the way, not acting like moving chicanes (Mag being the perfect example).

Here’s an idea. Run the race as a time trial. Start off at 3 second intervals, in reverse championship order. If you get caught you’re eliminated and have to pull over and head for the pits. Points awarded for Each place you make up.

This scheme operates quite nicely for rowing eights in Cambridge(England). It’s called “The Bumps”. It would demonstrate which car driver combination was fastest and most reliable, any error might mean elimination, without the need for the stars to wrestle with the also rans. No awkwardness from lapping and blue flags. Plenty of technical skill in judging how quickly to use up your resources, tyres, brakes etc. Even Monaco becomes victory to the most able.

Events could be one day. Practise in the morning, race in the afternoon, concert in the evening.

Here’s an article on The Bumps. It came about because the River Cam is narrow and so passing is impossible..

The way it is we might as well use single car qualifying say 15 minutes, and just skip the Sunday race entirely.

Some cars would be hell to pass in that case. They would need a button on the back to tag.

I originally though a reverse grid was a gimmick but thinking it though, it would be difficult to claim that the winning driver at the end of the year would only be there because of his car. To win this championship you would need to pull off more overtakes than anyone across the whole year while keeping the car on on the track to score points. It would be hard to argue that the champion after 20 races was not the best combination of speed and racecraft.

You couldn't screw with the system, you couldn't luck into a championship by signing with the right team with a slow number 2 driver. You could only win by being fast and precise. It would go back to being a 50/50% split of car and driver in terms of overall performance instead of the 95/5% that we have today.

But your No 2 Driver could still bunch the field until you dispatch half the cars in front of you. It would probably become even more of a team game th

You can't design a racing series in any format on the basis that some drivers can't be passed without crashing. In that crash with Charles he dnf'd, he'd get fired if he kept doing it. He is an idiot but in fact he does get passed a lot without colliding

Exactly right, but it's never been 50/50
