Renault full of Sh*t already it seems...

If someone said to you your food is not good enough we don't want anymore are you really going to serve that same person any food at all, when they realise they need your food?.
I would counter that by saying that if you want to attract others to buy your product, is this the right way to go about it?

Taking advantage of the enforced shutdown due to a global pandemic to try put your rival a little behind you is pretty poor sportsmanship in my mind and actually a little pathetic, assuming it is anything other than a shortage of engines, which I assume it is since they were ready for Aus. And good sportsmanship from Mclaren/Seidl for not making anything of it.

Has McLaren utilised both filming days already?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

With a Mercedes in the back, the door for Alonso is closed anyway. Like herself said a few years ago when asked where he was going to drive “at least not with a Mercedes team”.

This has nothing to do with any of those things. Money talks, BS walks. No money no candy...etc.

Pretty sure if McLaren would offer a couple of million Euros, Renault would reconsider.

Does anyone know who supplies McLaren with fuel and lubricants since their split with Petrobras?

BP fuels with Castrol Lubricants. They pay €4m for the year, and they get the upgrade one stage later than Renault i believe, in other words, a 0.5% loss in peak power or a 2% less over the new spec fuel and lubricants.

Castrol as Renault
I’d imagine this will change again next year to Petronas with the switch to Mercedes engines?
Correct.
[/quote]

Hope I’m not off topic here but when they used Mercedes last in 2014, did using Mobil (as per sponsorship) mean McLaren may not have had optimal engine performance given the works team had developed the PU with Petronas, and we know the fuels have been really important in finding performance since the hybrid era was introduced?

I’d hope they use exactly the same as the works team so there is no wriggle room to have anything other than excellent performance.

There were reports that there was a significant deficit in HP due to McLaren using Mobil fuel and lubricants with the Mercedes engine in 2014.

They were around 50 hp down due to the mobile fuel used was not optimized to the pre chamber used by Mercedes

Is this your assumption, or is there some kind of source of information?

I know it had been reported by multiple sources, which I’ve read, but I can’t recall actual figures as @toraabe, but I’m of the opinion he’s accurate. It was the very first year of the turbo hybrid, so there must have been a lot Mobil had to learn, especially since it was already known McLaren were moving to Honda the following year, so it’s not unlikely Mercedes greatly restricted info.

Have we got confirmation that McLaren will use Petronas lubricants next season when they move to Merc?

Not the same as Williams though and, in that report, sounds very much like a journalist taking a small point from a discussion and making it into a bigger story.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Well, it certainly doesn't sound good if you consider selling a part of your F1 team.
