I meant to say coming on to the straight, that is indeed not T1 yet, going to start his lap. He went wide, and then on the painted asfalt (if that is your definition of making a corner I am glad you live in another country) he snaps and becomes a passenger.

He's their reserve and development driver, he needs to do miles to keep his super licence, pretty standard for all reserve drivers

Really? i don't see Stoffel Vandaroone or c do that in Mercedes? or any other reserve driver do that as a pretty standard procedure to keep his super license!
He last raced in 2019 in a Williams, according to super license FIA rules he can go without driving an f1 for 3 years before needs to renew them and have the required 300 km in the bag!

So there is no justification for racing him over any other new and upcoming drivers... and if it is money then I am also sure that any new and upcoming drivers can easily pay it without any hitch!

No, you didn't and that's why Esteban Gutierrez lost his super license. Stoffel Vandoorne has been too busy racing in other series, which is why Nico Hulkenberg had to fill in for Perez. There's every justification to keep a reserve driver primed this year, as any driver could miss a race due to a positive covid test, and that could be costly for the team in terms of constructor points. Your own example in Gutierrez is why it's not a good idea to keep kicking the can down the road.

Since when did they need to justify running a reserve driver in free practice? They can run whoever they want, doesn't matter if they're up and coming or not.

Horner added that Albon simply needs to put the crash “out of his mind” in order to bounce back from the early setback to what he believes is otherwise shaping up to be a positive weekend for the Thai racer.

“He’s just got to try and put it out of his mind because actually in Istanbul and so far this weekend, in terms of characteristics and his feeling from the car, it’s been getting better and better,” Horner said.
