we are getting more time in windtunnel starting today 1st July 2021. Will Alpine use that for this year car or next year car?
Good question. I’d say next years car has taken top priority since a few races ago now.
I thought Alonso's contract stipulated 100% of the development time was spent on the 2022 car?

Maybe that was for the pre-COVID 2021 changes...

You've always got capacity to work on more than 1 car. You've usually got 2 cars going(this year's and next years). Early on, there is only so much development and production you can do on the 2022 car. So they use the surplus on the 2021 car. Alteast that's what I hope they've been doing.

Did you not see how many different versions of floors alpine brought? They had the most variations of any team this year. They needed to catch up as well because of some wind tunnel problems earlier in the year.. so to answer your question.. no.

Not to mention that any manufacturing you need is gonna take 8 weeks from when you finish up the design.
Yeah plus at this point the best they can hope for is 5th or 6th and even 6th might be lucky so yeah it’s not worth anymore development.

Did I say it's now 5/4 Alonzo in Quali and 4 in a row ?

Alonso was on target for a 1:04.2 before he got blocked.

ALO thinks he could have started P5/P6.
He was robbed! 10 place grid drop for the Aston Martin wouldn’t even be enough to undo the damage. It’s ruined Alonso’s race, he said now it will be a race to forget.

But the positives is he was on fire faster than Mercs in Q1 up in P3! And he was nearly 1 second faster than Ocon.

Don't forget, he'll be able to start on hards tomorrow then switch to mediums. He'll be able to go really deep, then have a softer tire.

What a shame ? I think he had pace to fight for 6th today.

He had so much pace so I’m just frustrated because he could have been so much higher up. Anyway let’s hope for some luck tomorrow to make up for today with strategy or even weather.

Yup, we don't have a choice either.

Let’s start in hard and see what happens

But Vettel destroyed a very good potential week end.
5 place penalty I assume will not be enough

I agree. Start on hards and try to extent first stint, if the race pace is good there might be a chance of overcutting the others. With a decent start and some luck Alonso could eventually end up in the points. However, I'm not too optimistic.

Wow, 3 place penalty for Vettel. So he still starts ahead of Alonzo. That sucks.

Sucks for Alonso as P5 might have been on the cards even.
But Alonso maturity has really grown lately. He does not blame Seb at all. He blames the team for not alerting him and also the cars ahead all slowing down which forces you to slow down through no fault of your own.
Alonso next year could be a dark horse as Alpine way more focused on next years car it seems than Redbull and Merc seem to be currently.

Hi.
As a fellow spaniard I just wanted to clarify it's AlonSo, not AlonZo. Thank you for these updates everyone. It's a pity what has happened this weekened.
