he is transferred to Bern to be operated
🔴 The pilot will be operated on the jaw as it is the most affected area next to the mouth

Reports say multiple fractures and 2 broken teeth.
Give sources or don’t post things that have not been confirmed by a reputable source
The article wasn't in english so I couldn't. But here is another english one which is close: https://www.en24news.com/e/2021/02/fern ... cycle.html

The newspaper says that the Spaniard was hospitalized for checks, with X-rays showing a suspected jaw fracture, and that Alonso was being transferred to Bern for further examination.

If you're going to break something, your jaw isn't the worst, though it could impact his fitness if he has to have if wired shut to heal as it would, obviously, limit his diet.

Hopefully doesn't affect his comeback though.

Very lucky if he's hit his head and "only" suffered facial injuries.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Alonso's presence at the pre-season tests in 1 month could be in jeopardy. Alpine test driver Guanyu Zhou will be on stand-by.

Maybe it's just me. He could race next week with a broken jaw. Never mind 1.5 days of testing 1 month from now, then another 2 weeks before a race.

If that's the biggest concern, it isn't one.

I doubt he'd be able to race next week if he's facing surgery. The pain will require strong pain killers for a week or two and they would potentially blunt his reactions just a little too much. That's assuming that a) The pain/discomfort of the tight fitting helmet and g-forces was bearable and b) He doesn't require his jaw wired shut for a period of time reducing his ability to eat a proper level of nutrition, drink and speak.

Plus what we don't know is whether he also suffered a concussion, which would not surprise me given that he has clearly hit something with his head.

Very glad to hear he’s had a successful surgery and will be able to resume training soon.

So a lady pulled in to a supermarket, and clipped his bike as he was driving it. Sounds like he banged his face against the hood of the car. That sucks, my niece hit someone in a similar way but the person was on a motorcycle and going a lot faster. Leading to a very unfortunate outcome.

Doctors say that he won't miss stuff. Let's hope for it. What a timing tho for this to happen.

Now that Nando is confirmed "OK", I would like to inject just a wee bit of levity (and take a bit of heat off of Diffuser)...

...did anyone check to see if the "supermarket lady" that hit Nando was not actually Cyril in drag?

I think Dany Ricc should be looking out for that!

Seen plenty of hockey and football players play with their mouths wired shut and full masks.
