Though I think there might be still some yellow, as the KIMOA background, and the Renault background.

Hmm that’s the wrong type of blue..
It will look similar to this based on the images we have so far..

Looks good!

I wonder though, with Alpine partnering with Lotus on an electric sportscar, could we be seeing a return of Lotus too into F1? Alpine Lotus F1 Team powered by Renault?

The Black pics are from Alpine themselves. "Winter" version, whatever that means.

I know, I was talking about the pic not provided by Alpine.

The letting go of Abeitboul is part of a deeper restructuring. Renault has been trying to cut costs and corners the whole way, they essentially took the stay behind and copy route. The end result of copying others was them gaining the insights but not the engineering involved in ironing out the kinks. For one reason or another they've always been behind the others, because copying others is easier than making it yourself. I suppose whatever philosophy was driving the Renault engine program had a let's catch up instead of lead the way as it's probably more cost effective. This is not the philosophy of a winner, that's the philosophy of a midfielder. Hiring Budkowski someone who knew what everyone was doing with their engines screams a we rather copy that innovate.

Recently Renault has changed its philosophy, they want to increase investment in their engines, and to change philosophy requires restructuring. Similar to how McLaren had to restructure in order to change its philosophy.

Red Bull was rightly pissed because their philosophy is push the limits of innovation in every FASTENER, while Renault is a let's be mediocre because we want to save money.
@Mclarensenna
Seidl didn't do any of those things you mentioned. Zak did. They were all in place when he got hired. It was Zak that said we'll be ready for 2021(now 2022) when they switched to Renault. The main reason, he said, was "that until there is a CAP we can't compete." Paraphrasing Zak there.

Financially, on the chassis side, there has not been much of a difference between McLaren and Renault. They both suffered from spending half what the top 3 spend.

It has been that they wanted to stay in F1 but not spend like the big boys. From that point of view, he did what he could. I have no clue why he made such lofty goals for himself though. Like EB, those got him into trouble.

Thanks for the reply but you completely missed the point i was making so let me clarify. The point was Cyril even back in 2015 when arguing with Horner everyday in the press about engine issues along with Renault management would in many interviews say they can compete with a 1/3 of the budget and very outdated facilities. It seems not just Cyril but all of Renault management believed and adapted this philosophy.
Siedl has said you cannot whether infrastructure deficit or massive budget deficit to Mercedes. Yes Zac brown also especially on the financial side said this thats why he pushed so much to boost the budget and simultaneously tried to lower the budget cap. Seidl and yes, Zac brown have never made similar Cyril statements they can do more with less similar to Cyrils statements. Thats the difference.

Zac brown inherited a bad situation but he has done everything he can to boost the teams budget as he knows how critical it is. Go look at the 2018 Renault F1 car. There are hardly any sponsors bar the Renault name. Even the back wing says Renault and this is after 3 years back in F1. Go compare to the Mclaren 2019 car and he has Dell and other sponsors all over the car. Mclaren used this budget to push the team forward. Go look at the Merc rear wing says Petronas even from 2010. I dont hardly see any Merc writing as they rather sell this to then use this money to then spend more on the car. Look at Redbull it said Aston martin. All the top team boss's fight tooth and nail to get a title sponsor on the rear wing and all over the car so they get money to spend on the actual car. Ferrari, Merc, Redbull, even Mclaren who was below them in 2017 managed to secure so many sponsors for 2018. Look at Stroll just the other day he secured a 20-30 million pound title sponsor and he only bought the team just over a year ago. He will then use all this budget on the car and facilities to push the team forward at aston martin.

Every top team manager adopts this budget is king and we will do everything in their powers to sell sponsors to increase budget. Zac Brown the last few years his sole mission seems to increase budget with sponsors, increase facilities, increase investor budget getting investment all over the world, even by leasing factory even and fights tooth and nail for more budget/decreasec cost cap. He knows you cannot under any circumstance compete with much smaller budget and infrastructure deficits.
Cyril on the other hand has gained a fraction of the sponsors Zac has and has constantly stated he can do more with less. Cyril argued with Horner he can compete with Merc with 1/3 the engine budget even and outdated facilities. Something i never ever heard Zac brown say or any top manager or say this in their actions.

It was known that Abiteboul was being moved to a less F1 centric job. My guess is he didn't like where he was being pushed. He tried to negotiate something better. When it became apparent that was NOT gonna happen he quit, to remove himself as the bridge to the new team he was going to be, in an effort to punish Alpine/Renault.
While that might make a nice Netflix episode I seriously doubt that is what happened. The best way to leave a project is to empower it so it reflects best on yourself. If you leave it in a worse state that doesn’t make you look any better.

I forgot about that. It was strange.
I will not be sad to see him go.

I had defended him in the past. Think he had his chance. There is no more sand in his Alpine/Renault F1 hourglass.

Yes i agree Cyril had 5 or so years and did not deliver. 1 thing though i give him credit he really improved his PR skills in 2020. In years gone by he was in constant arguments burning bridges with Horner which eventually can come back to bite you now that Renault wants to supply them again. He has followed the Zab brown approach it seems as they had so much praise for Carlos and wished him well with so much praise and seems Cyril did the same with Ric. Its important not to burn bridges as you never know what the future brings. That was 1 thing that irked me about Cyril in the past especially but in 2020 he definately turned a corner PR wise which i respect!

Actually, at first, Cyril was absolutely unprofessional on how he talked publicly when hearing of Daniel's departure.

in the end, Danny getting a podium or two for Renault leave him with no option but to be positive about him.

It was "tongue an cheek" but Cyril was TP at Caterham (had Renault F1 PU). Williams need a TP and maybe they're gonna switch to Renault.
With Cyril gone that could mean Sauber may be interested in a partnership
With Renault? And loosing their FCA sponsor?
I don’t see Cyrill back at a team, same way Withmarsh walked away from the sport. Maybe a spot on a FIA board about engine development?
It’s possible..
