Good to see three 6 races Honda PU on top 10 vs new Ferrari and Mercedes PU. Let's wait for the Q3, but that's a good sign

Oooof talk about fully sending it.

Hope it doesn't affect qualifying other than missed fp3.

i said a the beginning of the season to wait before making any conclusions about pu performance .it becoming clear that Honda holds pu supremacy over competitors the notion that they can deploy their energy over longer time holds true .if
Gasly can qualify for top 2 rows they wont be any excuse for Marko like his battery nonsense after being beaten in portimao

Still not sure if the Honda cars were with a new PU on track. But if that were the case I think the AT cars were on track with a higher engine mode to see if the new engine holds. So then we can't read much into it.

No official FIA document about new Honda PU. So they are using the old ones. And keeping a good amount of power, performance and reliability at the moment. Good sign, but still too early. They need to finish the race before talking

Tanabe san said they wont change PU this race after yesterday’s session.
https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/b2484 ... 0637be41bd
──The FIA has announced a list of power unit usage for each team, probably because it is a power circuit, many teams have introduced new power units.,Honda didnt change PU, was there any intention? Or will it be replaced after Saturday?
Tanabe TD: There are no plans to replace it on Saturday. Are other teams saying that they will replace the power unit because it is a power circuit?
──No, they didn't specified the reason, but its interesting that Honda and Renault did not replace the power unit despite the power circuit.
Tanabe TD: We are planning to survive all 23 races with 3 power units a year, so we have no plans to replace them at this Round 6 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. That's all.

That's the bulletproof reliability Hondas are known for! Even the road engines are finely crafted lumps, the K-series is loved by all. Honda's K20c1 crate engine is a game changer for sure.

I am concerned about the speed on a straight line by Hamilton.. no way to overtake in S2 and S3

Easy win for him unless there is a botched Pitstop. Perez failed again despite all the big talk and early promise. Gasly almost pipped Max, he would not have matched his time if he was in the second redbull. Something is up with the second car.

The tow these cars have this year is insane, the tow was easily adding like 3 or 4 tenths net even though it was costing .3 in the corners. There's still a lot to play for, RBR seems to have the fastest race car, the long runs showed we have the fastest car overall. This isn't Monaco, you can pass on the straight if you're strategic about energy harvesting, there's also pits, safety cars/red flags.

The wind will be even stronger tomorrow and it will be cooler as well, meaning graining may affect some cars. If the wind is blowing from the north to the south, that means there's a cross wind on the main straight. Then it stands to reason that the wind will cause the wall on the pit side to create a general low pressure zone, meaning less drag for the cars if they ride close to the wall on the pit straight? Same with the second DRS zone, perhaps it's faster to be close to the wall that is "blocking" the wind direction.

It's exactly the same as the first car.

That may, in fact, be the problem. Ironically, Tsunoda was complaining in other Grand Prix of exactly the same thing -- opposite feedback to Gasly, and unable to drive the car with Gasly's setup.

But it's not practical to be spending too much on developing completely different stuff for the second driver, be it Gasly wanting different stuff at Red Bull or Tsunoda wanting different stuff at AlphaTauri.

Wrong information by his race engineer. Gasly took purple S1. His last run was ok but he had no purple mini sector in S1 before the flag came.
Race pace is strong so should be easy front row finish
