Red Bull RB16B

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Look how sidepods slope down earlier, and pay attention to the white HONDA sticker, you can see how much the shape has changed at the back.
Absolutely agree with this. Seems near the Honda logo a bit bulkier but a huuge undercut underneath... probably has to do with the smaller floor at the back.
Looks like they shifted some volume upwards into that central section where the Honda logo is. Notice the Bull part of the sidepod has changed a lot.

Treading water comes to mind. I guess they’re hoping Honda make substantial gains.
They are not hoping ...... they know it.

There's definetly a lot of repackaging under the sidepods.

The repackaged/resulptured sidepods were already part of last year's Barcelona upgrade package (that not many have noticed)... Although they may have "chiseled" it further, hard to judge from these digital renders...

The exhaust might be pulled up over or aside the top of the heads. The rear wing mount has the exhaust going through it and the front cape has a little slot towards the rear. I'm not sure if last year's car had those features or not.

It should be noted the Red Bull altered the sidepod shape of their car at some point last season, so a direct comparison a little more difficult to make.

the slot in the cape was introduced in Turkey last year

Cape has been moved rearward and is larger
Nose inlet is different
Looks like they used tokens on the front end
Rear sidepod curve in sooner, probably an attempt to gain some floor surface area back.

Wouldn't it make more sense to compare the launch pictures of the RB16B with the latest version of the RB16 raced in Abu Dhabi to really see the differences? Because the launch-spec RB16 looks nothing like the one they races at the end of last season.

It would but it is hard to find images with the same angle. These launch images line up (more or less) so are easy to use.

Just me, or is the undercut at the back even more aggressive? The picture is nicely darkenned out to either hide this or draw attention to it..
Otherwise- double boomerang, cape, smaller tray.. all prresent and correct.
New engine.. hmmm

It looks like he bodypart from halfway the RB logo is more squarish and parallell but it continues longer back. Wondering about the diffuser. A lot of small changes in the bargeboard-area. Can't really see the edges on the floor longer back. How much of this will we see in two weeks ?
