All the teams will be stocking up on sandbags about now. I mean, you need to keep the stuff out of the garage, right?
Hahaha so true! I think this afternoon could just be a write off as far as anything meaningful is concerned.
I wonder if the sand is going to be particularly damaging for the cars when entering intakes or between bodywork joins, either?
It very well could be. These PU's are so complex, I'm pretty sure that sand getting into those tiny pipes, wires and ducting could cause some damage. The various filters and radiators will feel it for sure.
I don't think so, during races, there are much of things can enter those inlets rubbers, dust, rain etc. Now just a bit more dust.

The bodywork itself is going to be polished and damaged by abrasion.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

That was my thinking as well. Seems like no-one wants to go out, other than just to get the new drivers some mileage in the cars because it's so crucial to do so.

Saying that, Verstappen is out there now so maybe there's hope, but you can't see down the straights. I'm sort of surprised the helicopter can still fly in this.

The other consideration of course is that the lack of grip and poor visibility could cause someone to stick it in the barriers. Everyone is so cautious right now, you would think they were driving on a wet track.

Is it sane to run in these conditions ?

They seem to be coping for the moment. Not sure they have a choice, unless it gets much worse than this. With only three days of testing, every second of track time is precious.
