Looks like they are just replacing the curb. If they would change that corner, the circuit dramatically changes all the way up to turn 13.

Why did the put that in the first place? even in 2019 that kerb was absent (there was only one close to the wall)

Wrong, there was not competition at all those years.

In favour for MErcedes of course.....

Interesting decision. You could still misjudge the corner and whack the opposite barrier, of course, but this does provide a bit more breathing space.
The old layout has been raced 3 times and of those, Mercedes took 2 wins. So it's not as if Mercedes needs help, is it?

It's not Mercedes fault other teams haven't had what it takes to compete with them here!

I was talking about cars, not drivers. Less slow corner is clear benefit to mercedes.

Verstappen has had more track limit incidents than the Merc drivers. Leclerc introduced his Ferrari to the barrier at this corner in 2019. So how does this change benefit Merc?

Sure. No way could change anything. This year i was hoping after 8 years for real battle. We have it finally between two great drivers. They should not modify things in favour of one of the two.

I should add Mercedes won more than twice, then won in 2016, 2018, & 2019.

Redbull is the only other team to win, but that's mainly because 2017 was a demolition derby (they were 1.286 seconds off the pace) in more ways than one.

I'm a little flattered and also impressed by Alpine's tweak to their rear wing end plates. I hope it works out for them!

Without the massive straight: advantage would be ever so slightly with Red Bull based on Monaco. But this track is gonna be a victory for the Mercedes W12 for sure since this track has a massive straight and we have all seen how good Mercedes is on the straights in Imola, Portugal and Barcelona
True GOATs don’t need the help of superior material to win.

Tom Brady, Usain Bolt are true GOATs.

Its high speed and nearly blind thats why they dont want anyone backing up at that point.
what I meant is that drivers already don't do it, because it would compromise their hot lap. They want to be at max speed when they cross the start/finish line.
I guess if you want to screw with someone's lap you could do it.

Mercedes and Mclaren with a lot of downforce.
I doubt they race with that wing.
“Look how much slower we are on the straight”.
Or redbull with their skinny wings can say "look we are faster in the straights because we have skinny wings"
Just like in 2019 when all of a sudden ferrari seems to be running draggy wings to justify their engine loss 8)

Bottas is stuck in Finland?!?!?!?

Windy all weekend long it's going to be coming from the north, which means there is a head wind going into turn 2, castle turn, and the wind is going to be pushing cars wide on turn 16, which means lots of track limits infringements.

Even more baffling that Mercedes couldn't bring one in time, if Mercedes think it's so important.

Why? What have they done that has flattered you?

Don't worry about it, it's done, hopefully they keep it for other tracks.
