Aston Martin AMR22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I was waiting for someone to figure out how they can get end fences back on the rear wings! I love this interpretation. Conforms to the radius rules, but absolutely goes against the intention of the aero ruleset. I love it!

That looks so awkward but I love the interpretation.

You actually have to say hats off to the AM aero team. They may have not made an incredibly quick car, and they have just switched to a competitors car mid-season, but they have actually been finding some loopholes that other teams have not been able to

Do you guys think the other teams will copy and adapt this solution?

Looks like it will produce significantly more drag. Strange development.

Such things are one of the fascinating things in F1 for me. Rules should not ban but encourage this. =D>

Hmm almost acts as flap and vortex generator. Quite smart idea. But in overall development quite waste of resources. Anyway for for Singapore will work also.

Looks hideous. Gonna be great if it works.

It will likely be banned with a TD after this race.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I also think this will get banned immediately. Its completely against what the rules tried to achieve, even if its very clever and smart.

Not sure what the rules says but the biggest difference (advantage?) looks to be that the main plane is flat along its full span with the circular bullet (blob?) maybe meeting the requirement of the mainplane/end plate apex location. The blunt-nosed bullet looks not very nice.

If the FIA are to be believed that they will, as stated, clamp down on any interpretation of the rules causing more disturbed air to the following cars, this should be outlawed quickly before it starts a race of more and more complex end plates.
