McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I don’t know where he gets 2 ducts from that photo. There’s a shot of the floor of the car from the other day that strongly suggests there are no ducts and all the air is channeled around the side pods.

That does look more like the Merc A floor.

Regarding the brake ducts.. Is it possible that with small piped duct exits that the sheer amount of brake dust could clog or retard the ducts ability to extract air and thus cause overheating?

Do we know where this air is ducted to?

Cant answer on the brakes but I would debate that the floor looks like the launch spec Merc floor, that had waves built into the full edge of the floor whereas this was an overarching upward opening which they have put in 3 "sticky down bits" to borrow from sam collins.

Sky F1 are also commenting on the fragility of the cars and the likelihood that they will need to avoid aggressive corners due to the low and stiff setup.

It just occurred to me, that except for Merc with zero sidepods and Williams with their weird small sidepods, Mclaren is the only car without big undercut, isn't it?
Will be interesting to see if this concept works and the development during this season.

Yeah you are right, I have not seen a lot of haas coverage. Them and Ferrari look similar in concept.
I was thinking more in terms of which car would be the most similar to MCL36?
