McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter does not belong here.

Oh, pullrod at the front, pushrod at the rear :P

Also, looks rather short, compared to Haas and AMR

Where are the tunnel strakes? They must be in the tunnel, not visible from the front!
hidden for launch, as well as brake ducts

They've hidden a few sensitive parts of the car.

Definitely a revolution… Pull Rod in the front, Push Rod in the back… Talk about changing things up!

Keep in mind the Haas isn’t a real car, yet.

I would really like a closer look at that rear suspension. It’s definitely pushrod.

Would going pushrod in the rear help open up the venturi tunnels?

It is the most hideous McLaren I have ever seen. But glad they actually revealed the real car. Let’s hope it is fast.
Shocked…. It’s Beautiful!
Aesthetics are subjective. For what it is worth, I don't like this either. The Haas looks better to me (and I didn't expect to think that).

The renders have a lot of detail hidden away. The TV angles on the live feed were carefully framed. This was a hybrid launch between Red Bull and AM. It isn't showing a full car that will run at testing/shakedown, but nor is it only a show car and livery launch.

There's a lot of empty sponsor space on the car.

are they using the frontsidepods curvature and lack of undercut to guide air to seal the sides of the floor?
Definitly they follow a more 21 design path then AM that tried a completely new concept for these new rules

Lack of undercat, lack of inovations, I had muck higher expectations. Basic car, 2021 design.

I’ve never seen pushrods at that angle. Will be interesting to have a look at the gearbox if and when we get the chance.
